Provided is a pharmaceutical composition, including an antigen fusion protein which includes an antigen and an antagonist of an Fc gamma receptor. Also provided is a method of enhancing immunogenicity of an antigen, including conjugating the antigen with an antagonist of an Fc gamma receptor to form an antigen fusion protein. Also provided is a method of enhancing an immune response to an antigen in a subject, including administering to the subject an effective amount of an antigen fusion protein which includes an antigen and an antagonist of an Fc gamma receptor. The present invention may be applied in the development of potent vaccines based on targeting vaccine antigens to antigen-presenting cells via binding to Fc gamma receptors.

The present invention relates to treatment of diabetes, toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) modulators and methods for using the same. Particularly, the present invention provides an isolated peptide from pneumolysin (PLY peptide) which is effective in treatment of diabetes. In addition, the PLY peptide of the present invention is a TLR-4 antagonist and thus can be used in the treatment of a disease or condition associated with TLR-4 activation. The present invention also provides treatment of diabetes with a TLR-4 antagonist.

A method for enhancing a body's response to an immunogen is disclosed. The method comprises immunizing a subject in need thereof a vaccine composition in a water-in-oil (W/O/W) emulsion that comprises (a) an antigen; and (b) an adjuvant composition in a W/O/W emulsion.
