The LCD sequentially comprises, from bottom to top, a backlight module, a first polarizer, a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, a second substrate, and a second polarizer. The second substrate comprises plural transparent areas thereon. The first substrate comprises plural light-focusing arrays. Each of the light-focusing arrays comprises plural high-refractive areas and low-refractive areas disposed between the high-refractive areas. The plural high-refractive areas comprises a first high-refractive area and plural second high-refractive area disposed on two sides of the high-refractive areas symmetrically, wherein the widths of the second high-refractive areas are the same and smaller than the width of the first high-refractive area.

High brightness liquid crystal display

A pixel array including first scan lines, second scan lines, data lines, and sub-pixels is provided. Each sub-pixel includes a first switch, a second switch, a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first switch, a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second switch, a third switch, and common lines connected with each other and disposed under the first and the second pixel electrode. The first and the second switch are electrically connected to the same first scan line and data line. The first scan line is located between the first and second pixel electrode. The third switch is electrically connected to the second scan line and the first pixel electrode and has a floating terminal. The floating terminal is capacitively coupled to the common line under the second pixel electrode to form a capacitor.

A patterned phase retardation film is disclosed, which includes substrate, a phase retardation layer on the substrate comprising a plurality of first regions of liquid crystal materials and a plurality of second regions of curable resin, wherein the first regions and the second regions are in a grating stripe structure which is parallel and interleaved with each other the top part of the second regions is formed with at least one inclined plane; and a planarization layer for planarizing the phase retardation layer; wherein the first regions provide a first phase retardation and second regions provide a second phase retardation, the first phase retardation and the second phase retardation have a phase difference of 180&#xb0;. The method for manufacturing the patterned phase retardation film is also disclosed.

Patterned phase retardation film and the method for manufacturing the same

A display apparatus is provided. The display apparatus is suitable for a user to view through a polarization component having a first transmittance axis. The display apparatus includes a display module, a polarizer and a biaxial half-wave plate. The polarizer has a second transmittance axis such that a light provided from the display module passes through the polarizer and is converted into a polarized light. The biaxial half-wave plate is disposed on the display module and between the polarizer and the polarization component. The biaxial half-wave plate has a slow axis arranged between the first and second transmittance axes. The polarization of the polarized light passing through the biaxial half-wave plate tends toward the first transmittance axis.

Display apparatus

A pixel array including first scan lines, second scan lines, data lines, and sub-pixels is provided. Each sub-pixel includes a first switch, a second switch, a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first switch, a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second switch, a third switch, and common lines connected with each other and disposed under the first and the second pixel electrode. The first and the second switch are electrically connected to the same first scan line and data line. The first scan line is located between the first and second pixel electrode. The third switch is electrically connected to the second scan line and the first pixel electrode and has a floating terminal. The floating terminal is capacitively coupled to the second pixel electrode to form a first capacitor and capacitively coupled to the common line under the second pixel electrode to form a second capacitor.

A display panel includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a first polarizer having a temperature Tand a thermal expansion coefficient &#x3b1;; a second polarizer having a temperature Tand a thermal expansion coefficient &#x3b1;; a first adhesive layer having a first thickness h; and a second adhesive layer having a second thickness h; wherein the first adhesive layer is disposed between the first polarizer and the first substrate, the second adhesive layer is disposed between the second polarizer and the second substrate, and the parameters illustrated below:

A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first protective layer, a first polarizing layer, a second protective layer, an active device array substrate, an opposite substrate, a twisted nematic liquid crystal layer, a third protective layer, a second polarizing layer and a fourth protective layer. The first polarizing layer is disposed between the first and the second protective layers; the active device array substrate is disposed over the second protective layer. The twisted nematic liquid crystal layer is disposed between the opposite substrate and the active device array substrate. The third protective layer is disposed on the opposite substrate, and the second polarizing layer is disposed between the third and the fourth protective layers. The second protective layer has an in-plane and an out-of-plane retardation values. The in-plane retardation value is between 1 and 10 nanometers, and the out-of-plane retardation value is between 50 and 130 nanometers.

Liquid crystal display apparatus

A color filter including a substrate and a color filter layer is disclosed. The color filter layer is disposed on the substrate and includes a red photonic crystal structures, a green photonic crystal structure and a blue photonic crystal structure. The red photonic crystal structure includes a first defect resonance cavity and has multiple first holes surrounding the first defect resonance cavity. The green photonic crystal structure includes a second defect resonance cavity and has multiple second holes surrounding the second defect resonance cavity. The blue photonic crystal structure includes a third defect resonance cavity and has multiple third holes surrounding the third defect resonance cavity. Wherein, the hole diameter of the first holes is less than the hole diameter of the second holes, and the hole diameter of the second holes is less than the hole diameter of the third holes.
