A communication system and an operating method thereof are provided. The communication system includes at least one user equipment, at least one remote radio head (RRH), a measuring unit, a set determining unit and an antenna selecting unit. The RRH is electrically connected to a plurality of antennas. The measuring unit is for controlling a measurement of a signal strength of the at least one user equipment. The set determining unit is used for selecting one of a plurality of antenna configuration sets according to the signal strength for the at least one user equipment. Each of the antenna configuration sets includes a plurality of antenna configurations. Each of the antenna configurations is composed of P of a plurality of antennas. The antenna selecting unit is used for allocating one of the antenna configurations from the antenna configuration set which is selected for the at least one user equipment.

Communication system and operating method thereof

An antenna apparatus and a method for controlling an antenna array are provided. The method includes the following steps. A plurality of selectable antenna configurations is provided for a directional service. One of the antenna configurations is selected for an antenna element of the antenna array according to a service criterion. The antenna apparatus includes an antenna array, a controller, and a switching unit. The antenna array includes a plurality of antenna elements. The controller is adapted to generate a control signal based on selecting one of a plurality of antenna configurations according to a service criterion for an antenna element to provide a directional service. The switching unit is adapted to configure each of the antenna elements according to the control signal.

Method and apparatus for spatial mapping matrix searching

An estimation method is provided for use in a receiver of an OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) system to estimate the ICI (inter-carrier interference) and the noise power of a channel. Two pilot signals respectively carried by two subcarriers are received from the channel wherein the two pilot signals are adjacent and differ by a first phase angle. Another two pilot signals respectively carried by another two subcarrier are received from the channel wherein the another two pilot signals are adjacent and differ by a second phase angle. According to some embodiments of the invention, these phases are correlated with the ICI power, but are uncorrelated with the noise power. The estimation method then individually estimates the ICI power and noise power according to the first phase and the second phase.
