A light source structure of a projector includes at least a solid state lighting element, at least an optical collimator lens, a condenser lens, and a light dispersing apparatus. The solid state lighting element generates a plurality of radial beams, which are incident, to the optical collimator lens. The optical collimator lens converts the radial beams into a plurality of parallel beams which strike the condenser lens. The parallel beams are concentrated and focused by the condenser lens into a projecting beam. The light dispersing apparatus is positioned on at a focal point of the condenser lens and receives the projecting beam to scatter the projecting beam uniformly.

Light source structure of projector

A projector includes a projection lens set, a DMD, a prism unit, a light guide unit, and a light source device. The light source device includes a first and a second LEDs, a laser light source, and a color wheel. The first LED is positioned in a first optical path and generates a first light. The laser light source is positioned in a second optical path and generates a laser light. The second LED is positioned in a third optical path and generates a second light. The laser light irradiates the color wheel to generate a third light. A light merging unit merges the first, second, and third lights. The light guide unit guides the mixed light to the prism unit. The mixed light is refracted to the DMD via the prism unit. The refracted mixed light is reflected to the projection lens set via the DMD.

Light source device and projector

A projector includes a projection lens set, a digital micro-mirror device, a prism unit, a light merging unit, a light guide unit, and a light source device. The light source device includes a laser light source and a color wheel. The laser light source is positioned in a straight optical path and generates a first light. The color wheel is positioned in the straight optical path. The first light irradiates the color wheel to generate a second light and the third light. The light merging unit merges the first, second, and third lights to generate a mixed light. The light guide unit guides the mixed light to the prism unit. The mixed light is refracted to the DMD via the prism unit, and then the refracted mixed light is reflected to the projection lens set via the DMD.

A stereo projection optical system includes an image engine configured for providing light superimposed spatial information, a color selector positioned to receive a light output of the image engine, a transmission-type light modulator positioned to receive an emergent light of the color selector. The color selector is configured for selectively modifying the polarization of the light output according to the wavelength of the light output. The transmission-type light modulator alternates between a dark state and a bright state. From the foregoing, it will be apparent that the stereo projection optical system according to the present invention provides advantages in that its structure can be simplified with the reduction of its size by synthesizing lift and right image signals by displaying the stereoscopic image signal using a single projector.

Stereo projection optical system

A stereo projection optical system, includes a first polarizing beam splitter configured for separating a light input into a first polarized light component and a second polarized light component; a first transmission-type spatial light modulator configured for receiving the first polarized light component; a second transmission-type spatial light modulator configured for receiving the second polarized light component; a second polarizing beam splitter positioned to receive the light outputs of the first, second spatial light modulators. The first and second transmission-type spatial light modulators respectively generate two images formed by the first polarized light component and the second polarized light component with spatial information. When a viewer wears glasses that have two polarizing lenses whose polarization directions are perpendicular to each other, the viewer can perceive projected images as being three-dimensional.

A stereo projection optical system includes an image assimilator and a transmission-type light modulator positioned to receive the emergent light of the image assimilator. The image assimilator is configured for superimposing spatial information on the incident light beam and emitting one of a first polarized light component and a second polarized light component. The transmission-type light modulator alternates between a dark state and a bright state. The stereo projection optical systems provide viewers three-dimensional images formed by two alternative polarized lights whose polarizations are perpendicular relative to each other utilizing the transmission-type light modulators.

A liquid crystal panel includes a liquid crystal display element, a micro-lens array, an adjustable lens array, and a lens control unit electrically connected to the adjustable lens array. The liquid crystal display element has a light input surface and a light output surface opposite to the light input surface. The micro-lens array has a plurality of micro-lenses disposed on the light input surface of the liquid crystal display element). The adjustable lens array has a plurality of adjustable lenses disposed on the light output surface of the liquid crystal display element. The lens control unit is capable of controlling focal lengths of the plurality of adjustable lenses.

Liquid crystal panel and projector using the same

A stereo projection optical system includes a first polarizing beam splitter, a transmission-type light modulator positioned to receive the first polarized light component from the first polarizing light splitter and an image assimilator positioned to receive an emergent light of the transmission-type light modulator. The image assimilator includes a second polarized light splitter and first, second reflective spatial light modulators. The stereo projection optical systems provide viewers three-dimensional images formed by two alternative polarization light beams whose polarizations are perpendicular to each other utilizing the transmission-type light modulators to form '3-D' images.

A projector includes a projecting lens configured for projecting an image, a controlling unit configured for analyzing a color temperature of the image, and an adjusting unit electrically connected to the controlling unit. The adjusting unit adjusts the color temperature of the image to be identical to a preset color temperature of the projector by changing transmittance of light through the adjusting unit.

Temperature adjusting apparatus for use in LCD projector and related method

An exemplary MLA unit for use in a projection device is disclosed. The projection device includes an LCD panel. The LCD panel includes a number of pixels each having an opening. The MLA unit includes a first MLA, and a second MLA. The first MLA includes a number of first micro lenses each configured for focusing incident light into the opening of a respective pixel of the LCD panel. The second MLA includes a number of second micro lenses each aligned with a respective first micro lens of the first MLA so as to form a micro lens system. The second MLA is movable so as to change the effective focal length of the lens systems.

A projection device includes a light source emitting light beams, a display element displaying images according to video signals, an adjustable collimator arranged between the light source and the display element, and a condensing lens unit arranged between the adjustable collimator and the display element. The adjustable collimator collimates the light beams of the light source to parallel beams. The condensing lens projects the parallel beams to the display element. A driving unit is used for adjusting a distance between the light source and the adjustable collimator. A lens adjusting unit is used for adjusting a focus of the adjustable collimator according to the distance between the light source and the adjustable collimator. The projection device can reduce light loss and achieve a projection image with high contrast and high brightness.

A projecting system includes a light source for emitting light, a color temperature detecting device for detecting a color temperature value of the light emitted from the light source, a control device for storing a plurality of selectable pre-determined color temperature values therein for a user to select a pre-determined color temperature value, an adjusting device, and a light-modulating device. The adjusting device is disposed in a light path associated with the light source. The control device is configured for controlling the adjusting device to adjust transmittance of the light transmitted therethrough so as to adjust the color temperature value of the light to the selected pre-determined color temperature value. The light-modulating device modulates the light to create an image.

Projecting system with color temperature adjusting function

An exemplary projection system includes a light source unit, a polarization direction rotating member, a polarization direction restoration polarizer, an LCD panel, and a projection lens. The light source unit is configured for emitting polarized light with a first polarization direction along an axis. The polarization direction rotating member includes a solid body and a through hole defined in the solid body. The polarized light has a first portion incident on the solid body and a second portion passing through the through hole. The polarization direction rotating member is configured for rotating the first polarization direction of the first portion to a second polarization direction and allowing the second portion to pass the through hole with the first polarization direction kept unchanged. The polarization direction restoration polarizer is configured for changing the second polarization direction of the first portion to the first polarization direction.
