A document image reading apparatus includes a sheet input tray, a sheet output tray, a sheet transfer channel, an image pickup device, a sheet pick-up module, and a transfer roller assembly. The sheet output tray is disposed under the sheet input tray, or the sheet output tray is disposed over the sheet input tray. After each of the plural documents on the sheet input tray is shot by the image pickup device, the document is fed into the sheet transfer channel by the sheet pick-up module. Then, the document is transmitted to the sheet output tray by the transfer roller assembly.

Document image reading apparatus

An automatic document feeder includes a sheet input tray, a transfer channel, a sheet pick-up module, a retard roller, a thickness detecting module and a controlling unit. When the sheet pick-up module is driven, the documents placed on the sheet input tray are fed into the transfer channel. The thickness detecting module is used for detecting a thickness of the documents. The controlling unit is used for judging whether a multiple-feeding event occurs. In a case that the multiple-feeding event occurs, the sheet pick-up module is reversely rotated such that the documents are returned to the sheet input tray. When the sheet pick-up module is reversely rotated, the retard roller provides a lower frictional force, so that the documents are allowed to be returned to the sheet input tray.

A retard roller of an automatic document feeder provides a frictional force to separate plural documents from each other. The retard roller can provide a first damping torque and a second damping torque with different directions. The second damping torque is smaller than the first damping torque. As such, the frictional force exerted on the document is reduced for returning the document out of the automatic document feeder. A retard roller module having such a retard roller is also provided.

An automatic document feeder includes a transfer channel, a pick-up module and a thickness detecting module. The thickness detecting module includes a detecting member, a transmission member and an optical displacement sensing member. By the pick-up module, a sheet article is fed into the transfer channel. When the sheet article is transported across the detecting member, the sheet article is sustained against the detecting member, so that the detecting member is moved. The transmission member is connected to the detecting member. As the detecting member is moved, the transmission member generates a displacement amount. The optical displacement sensing member is used for detecting a displacement amount of the transmission member, thereby acquiring the thickness of the sheet article.

Automatic document feeder

A scanning apparatus includes a scanning module. The scanning module includes plural light emitting diodes, a porous reflective plate with plural openings, and a reflective element. When the scanning apparatus starts scanning a document, the light beams emitted by the light emitting diodes are directed to the porous reflective plate. A portion of light beams reflected by the porous reflective plate are defined as reflected light beams. The light beams penetrating through the openings are diffracted to be diffractive penetrated light beams. The reflected light beams reflected by the reflective element and the diffractive penetrated light beams are projected on the document, so that enhanced uniform illumination efficacy is achieved.

Scanning apparatus

The present invention relates to a duplex scanning apparatus. The duplex scanning apparatus includes a sheet input tray for placing a stack of documents thereon. For performing duplex scanning operations on the stack of paper sheets, the documents are successively scanned from the bottommost one to the uppermost one. As a consequence, the scanned documents are stacked in the sheet ejecting tray in the same order as that of the original stack.

The present invention relates to a duplex printing apparatus. The duplex printing apparatus includes a paper input tray, a paper ejecting tray, a paper pick-up roller, a paper feeding channel, a first paper transfer roller assembly, a scanning and developing print unit, a print region, a paper ejecting channel, a second paper transfer roller assembly, an inverting channel, a paper guide slice, a third paper transfer roller assembly and a paper ejecting roller assembly. By arranging the inverting channel between the print region and the paper ejecting tray, the printing speed is enhanced.

A scanning apparatus includes a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL), a heating light source, a timer, a photosensor for detecting light that is emitted from the CCFL and the heating light source, and a controller for controlling operations of the scanning device. The warm-up time period of the CCFL exceeds that of the heating light source. After activation, the heating light source is capable of generating more heat than the CCFL, which induces more rapid heating of the CCFL. When the time period counted by the timer reaches a predetermined time, the controller turns off the heating light source and performs scanning using only the cold cathode fluorescent lamp.

Scanning device capable of shortening a warm-up time period

A planar light source for use in a scanning apparatus includes a light-emitting element, a first light-guiding portion and a second light-guiding portion. The light-emitting element is arranged at a side of the scanning platform opposite to the carriage module for providing a source light. The first light-guiding portion is disposed at a first side of the light-emitting element for diffusing the source light as a first planar light to be provided for a carriage module through a scanning platform of the scanning apparatus. The second light-guiding portion is disposed at a second side of the light-emitting element opposite to the first side for diffusing the source light as a second planar light to be provided for the carriage module through the scanning platform.

A scanning apparatus for preventing defocus aberration is provided. The scanning apparatus includes a flatbed scanning portion and a scanning module. The flatbed scanning portion includes a glass platform. The metallic post is interconnected between the scanning module case and the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is not in direct contact with the scanning module case so as to prevent defocus aberration resulting from thermal expansion.

The first lens and the first sensing element have a first resolution and are used for scanning a first-sized document. The second lens and the second sensing element have a second resolution and are used for scanning a second-sized document.
