An optical switch () includes a housing (), an input port (), an output port (), a switching element (), a holder (), and a driver (). The holder holds the input and output ports in alignment with one another and is assembled with the switching element. The switching element includes an optical component assembly () and a rotating mechanism (). The optical component assembly is fixed on the rotating mechanism and is brought to move between a top stopper () (an upward position), wherein the optical component assembly is out of optical paths running between the input port and the output port, and a bottom stopper () (a downward position), wherein the optical component assembly is in the optical paths. The optical component assembly includes a prism (), which redirects optical paths passing through it, thereby effecting switching between the input and output ports.

Optical switch

An optical switch ( ) according to the present invention comprises a housing ( ), a first I/O port ( ), a second I/O port ( ), a driver ( ) and a switching element ( ). The housing holds the first I/O port and the second I/O port in alignment with a prism ( ) having reflective surfaces ( ) and supports the driver on a substrate ( ) of the housing. A mirror ( ) of the switching element is rotationally attached to the driver, and is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, light beams from the first and second I/O ports transmit through the prism back to the second and first I/O ports, respectively; in the second position, light beams from the first and second I/O ports are reflected back to the first and second I/O ports by the mirror. Thus light signals from input fibers are switched between two output fibers of the I/O ports.

Optical switch with a moveable optical component

An optical fiber device ( ) includes an upper cover ( ), a lower cover ( ), and two optical fiber holders ( ). Each optical fiber holder includes a retaining body ( ), a strain relief boot ( ), and an interconnection member ( ). A passage is defined in each optical fiber holder, for receiving a plurality of optical fibers therethrough. An inner rib ( ) is formed on an inner surface of the interconnection member, and is engagingly received in a groove ( ) defined in a front portion of the retaining body. Two parallel outer ribs ( ) are formed on an outer surface of the interconnection member, and are engagingly received in corresponding grooves ( ) defined in the upper and lower covers. An engaging bead ( ) is formed at a front end of the strain relief boot, and is engagingly received in a rear groove ( ) defined in an intermediate portion of the retaining body.

Sealing assembly for use with an optical fiber holder

A variable optical attenuator ( ) comprises a base ( ), a cover ( ), an attenuation device ( ), and optical fibers ( ). The attenuation device comprises a fixed collimator ( ), a movable collimator ( ), a holding device ( ), and an adjusting device ( ). The two collimators are aligned end-to-end. The holding device defines a passage ( ) in which the movable collimator is retained, and a threaded hole ( ). The adjusting device comprises a first screw rod ( ), a second screw rod ( ), and a rubber ring ( ). The first screw rod comprises a thread portion ( ), a gear ( ), and a head ( ). The thread portion of the first screw rod is rotatably engaged in the threaded hole. The second screw rod comprises a thread portion ( ) and an adjusting slot ( ). The thread portion of the second screw rod meshes with the gear of the first screw rod.

Optical fiber holding device

An IC card connector comprises an insulative housing and a plurality of contacts. A plurality of passageways is defined through the insulative housing for receiving the corresponding contacts therein. Each contact comprises a first contacting arm, a second contacting arm and a retaining portion connected between the first and second contacting arms. The first contacting arm comprises a first arcuate portion for electrically a contacting corresponding circuit of an IC card and a first connecting portion connected between the first arcuate portion and the retaining portion. The second contacting arm comprises a second arcuate portion, a soldering portion downwardly extending from the second arcuate portion, a second connecting portion extending from the retaining portion to the soldering portion, and a pair of fixing portions extending from lateral edges of the second connecting portion. In operation, after the IC card is inserted into the IC connector, the first arcuate portion is downwardly pressed to contact the second arcuate portion. The contact forms a parallel electrical connection between the IC card and the circuit board. Thus the signal transmission path is shortened and the electrical resistance of the contact in the present IC card connector is decreased.

IC card connector

An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing defining a receiving apace therein. Eight terminals labeled from one to eight are assembled in the receiving space. Each terminal includes a contacting portion at one end for engaging with a mating connector, a solder tail at an opposite end for soldering to a printed circuit board, and a curving portion extending between the contacting portion and the solder tail. Every two adjacent solder tails are separated by a second distance N,which is larger than a first distance N,separating every two adjacent contacting portions. At least one of three adjacent solder tails of the terminals protrudes beyond a plane defined by other solder tails. In particular, a distance between a third and fourth terminals, and a fifth and sixth terminals, is increased, thereby diminishing cross-talk therebetween.

Electrical connector

An electrical connector comprises an insulative housing, a number of terminals received in the housing, a pair of grounding members, and a shield. The housing defines a mating opening at a front face thereof. Each of the two side walls of the housing defines a recess, and a pair of grooves is defined in both lateral walls of the recesses and in communication with a bottom of the housing. Each grounding member comprises a main body for inserting into the grooves of the housing by two edges of the main body from the bottom of the housing, and a solder pad for soldering to the printed circuit board. A protruding rib is formed on the main body. The shield covers the housing, two resilient arms extending inwardly from both lateral plates of the shield to electrically contact the protruding rib of the grounding member for grounding.
