A computing device captures a live video of a user, determines a location of a facial region of the user by a facial region analyzer, and determines a finger vector type by a finger vector detector based on a direction in which at least one finger is pointing relative to the facial region of the user. Responsive to detecting a first finger vector type within the facial region involving a single finger, a makeup effects toolbar is displayed in the user interface. Responsive to detecting a second finger vector type involving the single finger, a selection tool for selecting a makeup effect in the makeup effects toolbar is displayed. The computing device obtains a makeup effect based on manipulation by the user of the selection tool. Responsive to detecting a target user action, virtual application of the selected makeup effect is performed on the facial region of the user.

System and method for navigating user interfaces using a hybrid touchless control mechanism

A computing device obtains multimedia content relating to a user of the computing device and generates a user interface. In a first mode of operation, the user interface displays a plurality of graphical thumbnails each depicting a cosmetic result, each graphical thumbnail corresponding to a cosmetic template, each of the plurality of cosmetic templates comprising a listing of cosmetic effects utilized for achieving each corresponding cosmetic result. A selection is obtained from the user of one or more graphical thumbnails to select one or more cosmetic templates. Responsive to operating in the second mode of operation, a corresponding listing of cosmetic effects is displayed for each of the one or more selected cosmetic templates and obtaining selection of one or more of the displayed cosmetic effects. Responsive to exiting the second mode of operation, the selected one or more cosmetic effects from the one or more selected cosmetic templates is applied to each of the plurality of cosmetic templates to generate updated cosmetic templates.

Systems and methods for implementing a pin mechanism in a virtual cosmetic application

An image editing device is configured to automatically apply special effects to a digital image. In the image editing device, a digital image is obtained, and a selection is retrieved from a user, where the user selection specifying at least one criterion. At least one attribute of the digital image is analyzed, and a determination is made on whether the at least one attribute coincides with a target attribute associated with the at least one criterion. Responsive to the at least one attribute coinciding with the target attribute, a special effect is obtained from a data store, and the obtained special effect is applied to the digital image.
