A display device includes: a first subpixel including a quantum dot light-emitting layer configured to emit light of a first color: a second subpixel including a quantum dot light-emitting layer configured to emit light of a second color different from the light of the first color: a third subpixel including a quantum dot light-emitting layer configured to emit light of a third color different from the light of the first color and the light of the second color: and a data processing circuit configured to receive a first input data corresponding to the first subpixel, a second input data corresponding to the second subpixel, and a third input data corresponding to the third subpixel. Display device

A display device includes a plurality of pixel circuits each including a self-luminous element and a switching element that performs switching between light emission and non-light emission of the self-luminous element, the plurality of pixel circuits being provided respectively corresponding to a plurality of pixels, and a control circuit that controls each of the plurality of pixel circuits in response to an image signal of an image to be displayed. The control circuit controls switching between the light emission and the non-light emission by the switching element and thus the self-luminous element emits light at least in a certain period from the start of the dimming control period and a certain period until the end of the dimming control period.

A light-emitting element includes a light-emitting layer, an upper electrode provided on a first side of the light-emitting layer, and a lower electrode provided on a second side of the light-emitting layer opposite to the first side. The lower electrode is constituted by a first electrode and a second electrode including a first gap therebetween, the second electrode having an area larger than that of the first electrode. The upper electrode is constituted by a third electrode and a fourth electrode including a second gap therebetween, the third electrode facing the first electrode and the second electrode, the fourth electrode facing the second electrode and having an area smaller than that of the third electrode.

The display device is provided with a degree-of-degradation calculating circuit that determines a degree of degradation representing a level of degradation of a compensation-target circuit element included in each of K pixel circuits which are some or all of a plurality of pixel circuits; a variation coefficient calculating circuit that calculates, as a variation coefficient, a value depending on a deviation determined based on degrees of degradation of the K pixel circuits; a reference luminance setting circuit that sets, based on the variation coefficient, reference luminance for determining display luminance of each display element after degradation compensation; and a compensation computing circuit that compensates for degradation of the compensation-target circuit elements by correcting input video signals based on the reference luminance and the degree of degradation of each of the K pixel circuits, upon generating video signals to be supplied to the plurality of pixel circuits.

In a display device that performs external compensation, pixel circuits are classified into specific and general pixel circuits. When display is restarted, a current measurement circuit, along with a drive circuit, measures a current flowing through a drive transistor in the specific pixel circuit as a first current. A correction circuit obtains a recovery ratio for a characteristic of the drive transistor on the basis of an amount of the first current and corrects a video signal for each of the specific and general pixel circuits using the recovery ratio. Thus, when display is restarted, a suitably compensated image is displayed.
