Provided herein is a method for treating an oral cancer in a subject. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the method comprises respectively obtaining a first and a second biological samples from a lesion site and a non-lesion site of the subject; respectively measuring the expression levels of CHEK1, PIK3CA, or PIK3CD in both biological samples by qRT-PCR thereby obtaining a first and a second expression level; determining the ratio of the first to the second expression level; and administering to the subject an effective amount of a checkpoint kinase 1 inhibitor when the ratio for CHEK1 is at least 1.7 or a phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor when the ratio for PIK3CA is at least 2.4, or when the ratio for PIK3CD is at least 3.1.

Methods for treating oral cancers

A method for performing contactless ODEP for separation of CTCs is provided with the steps of obtaining patients' blood with rare cell suspected CTCs; adding at least one fluorescent antibody binding to CTCs into the blood; staining the blood; injecting the stained blood with fluorescent dye into an ODEP device and then performing fluorescent image identification; trapping the CTCs with at least one fluorescent antibody in the ODEP device by creating an image pattern and then generating an ODEP force; Separating the trapped CTCs from other non-CTCs cells; absorbing the trapped CTCs; and obtaining a high purity of CTCs. An apparatus for performing contactless ODEP for separation of CTCs is also provided.

Method and apparatus for performing contactless optically-induced dielectrophoresis for separation of circulating tumor cells

A microfluidic chip for three-dimensional cell culture with high-throughput perfusion includes an array of cell culture units, each unit including a cell culture medium inlet hole connecting to one cell culture medium tank, at least one micro-bioreactor, at least one microchannel and at least one medium collection and analysis tank. Each medium collection and analysis tank is connected to an air chamber with an air channel and the air chamber has negative pressure source holes to generate negative pressure to drive the culture medium. The microfluidic chip also includes an intermediate plate connected to the bottom surface of the roof, and two bottom plates detachably assembled at the bottom of the intermediate plate. The first and second bottom surfaces have micro-bioreactors and cylindrical recessed slots and the intermediate plate has corresponding holes to achieve the goal of three-dimensional cell culture using minimum experimental resources with high-throughput perfusion.
