An FFS (Fringe Field Switching) mode liquid crystal display comprises a lower substrate and an upper substrate and a gate line formed on the lower substrate. A data line crosses perpendicular to the gate line. A first ITO electrode is formed in a region defined by the gate line and the data line. A second ITO electrode of a comb-teeth pattern is formed on the lower substrate while being overlapped on the first ITO electrode. A black matrix formed on the upper substrate, wherein, a wedge portion of the second ITO electrode is formed at a position spaced by a predetermined interval to the inside from an edge section of the black matrix.

Disclosed is a fringe field switching liquid crystal display. The fringe field switching liquid crystal display comprises a black matrix formed on an upper substrate, a pixel electrode formed above a lower substrate and having an edge portion overlapped with the black matrix by a predetermined region, and liquid crystal interposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate, wherein the edge portion of the pixel electrode has a linear line shape. According to such an edge portion of the pixel electrode, it is possible to stably drive the liquid crystal located at the edge portion of the pixel electrode and also to restore the liquid crystal with rapidity.

Disclosed is a backlight unit structure for an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The backlight unit structure comprises: a lamp disposed under a display panel; and a reflection plate rotatably disposed around the lamp and having an opening through which light can be concentrated on the display panel. The blink backlight having the reflection plate is applied to backlight unit structure, so that it is possible to improve a response time, to enhance an image quality of the moving picture similarly to the existing CRT, and to obtain a high luminance as well.

The present invention relates to a fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display, comprising: gate lines and data lines aligned on a transparent insulating substrate to vertically cross each other; common electrode lines aligned horizontally to the gate lines; a pixel region defined in a space formed by the gate lines and data lines; a first transparent electrode formed in the pixel region, and divided into at least two regions; and a second transparent electrode insulated from the first transparent electrode, and divided on the first transparent electrode as many as the first transparent electrode, a data voltage being applied to the second transparent electrode in a first region and to the first transparent electrode in a second region, a sum of the voltages applied to the pixel region having a zero voltage.
