A liquid crystal optical lens including a first and a second device substrate and a liquid crystal layer is provided. A first electrode layer and a plurality of first stacked layers are sequent stacked on the first device substrate. Each first stacked layer has a first opening exposing the first electrode layer and includes a first conductive layer and a first insulating layer located between the first conductive layer and the first electrode layer. A second electrode layer and a plurality of second stacked layers are sequent stacked on the second device substrate. Each second stacked layer has a second opening exposing the second electrode layer and including a second conductive layer and a second insulating layer located between the second conductive layer and the second electrode layer. A method for fabricating the liquid crystal optical lens and a lens apparatus using the liquid crystal optical lens are also provided.

A power generating device includes a carrier module, a stator module, a rotor module and a power generating module. The stator module is assembled to the carrier module, and has a first circuit board and a plurality of driving coils. The rotor module is located in an electromagnetic field, and has a multipolar magnetic rotor and a rotating axle. A magnetic field of the multipolar magnetic rotor interacts with the electromagnetic field to make the rotor module rotating relative to the stator module, and make the multipolar magnetic rotor producing a varying magnetic field. The power generating module is located in the varying magnetic field, and has a second circuit board and a plurality of induction coils. The induction coils induct the varying magnetic field to output an induction circuit to the second circuit board.

Power generating device

A liquid crystal lens including a plurality of electrodes and a substrate is provided. A plurality of parallel electric fields is formed by controlling the potentials of the electrodes, so as to speed up the mechanism for toppling the liquid crystal molecules. In other words, the liquid crystal lens has a high respond time. In addition, a plurality of active devices is disposed at the sides of the electrodes in the liquid crystal lens, in which the active devices are electrically connected to the electrodes. When the active devices are driven, a current is formed on the electrodes, so as to raise the temperature of the liquid crystal lens. Accordingly, the liquid crystal lens can be operated in a low temperature environment.

A double-layer liquid crystal lens apparatus having two liquid lens structures is provided. A driving voltage of each liquid crystal lens structure is controlled by an active device disposed thereon. When an incident light is passing through the liquid crystal lens structures, the optical path difference of the incident light is compensated by the liquid crystal lens structures, so that the double-layer liquid crystal lens apparatus performs the focusing function well without using a polarizer. Applying a suitable driving voltage on each of the active devices, the double-layer liquid crystal lens apparatus has a function of modulating focal length focusing/diverging the light, like a convex lens or a concave lens.

A 3D grid controllable liquid crystal lens is provided. In the 3D grid controllable liquid crystal lens, at least two layers of a plurality of active device arrays are stacked on a first substrate, and a plurality of liquid crystal layer are respectively disposed on the active device arrays. Then, a driving voltage applied on each active device array is suitably controlled to control the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules, so as to generate a refractive index distribution similar to gradient-index lens in the 3D grid controllable liquid crystal lens. Therefore, the 3D grid controllable liquid crystal lens has a focusing function for focusing/diverging the light, similar to a convex lens or a concave lens. A method for manufacturing the 3D grid controllable liquid crystal lens is also provided.

An optical head to access data on an optical recording medium, which has two data storage densities, includes two sets of optical path systems to provide two optical paths that are crossed. Each optical path system includes a laser light generation unit, a light guiding unit, a converging objective lens and a photo detector. The light guiding unit is located on the optical path of the laser light generation unit, to direct the laser light to pass through the converging objective lens and focus on the data side of the optical recording medium to carry optical data signals from the data side. The laser light returns to the light guiding unit and travels along the optical path and is received by the photo detector.

An objective lens actuator which mainly using an objective lens holder with a flat form facilitates manufacture and fabrication. Also the objective lens actuator controls the focusing direction, tracking direction and radial tilt direction of the optical pickup head. And, the objective lens actuator not only controls but also drives the optical pickup head.

A pickup head actuator for carrying a plurality of near-field optical I/O elements, far-field optical I/O elements, or magnetic I/O elements. Besides performing focusing and tracking servo, the attraction due to magnetic inductor and tracking magnet enables a base to float at different heights in its normal state, suitable for different types of I/O elements.

A near-field optical head objective lens that can read and write high-density data on an optical disc is disclosed. On a surface where an incident beam converges by the near-field optical head objective lens, a film that can produce surface plasmon effect is coated. As the incident beam hits the material and produces the surface plasmon, a micro aperture is generated to minimize the diameter of the light spot, thereby increasing the data capacity stored in the optical disc.

A planar integrated micro-optical pickup head is used to perform reading and writing operations on a high-density disk. The planar integrated micro-optical pickup head includes a set of optical elements that is comprised of a beam splitter, a plurality of 45-degrees-oriented folding mirrors, and two planar collimators. The pickup head further comprises a photo-detector, a laser source for emitting a laser beam of short wavelength, and an objective lens of high value of numerical aperture. The set of optical elements is formed on lower and upper substrates via semiconductor planar fabrication processes, the laser source and the objective lens then are mechanically attached on the lower substrate. The lower and upper substrates are ultimately aligned and attached with each other to achieve the pickup head hence having a reduced size and simply fabricated.

An optical head driving mechanism is applied to an optical disc driver that has a base plate, a pair of guide rods and an optical module movably mounted on the guide rods. The driving mechanism includes a base, a movable member, a piezo-actuator and at least a resilient member. The piezo-actuator and the movable member generate proceeding waves at the rim of the piezo-actuator and move the optical module along the guide rods when the piezo-actuator activates.

This specification discloses a piezoelectric ultrasonic motor with multi-layer thin disks. A buzzer disk made of a piezoelectric material is supplied with an alternate voltage to produce alternately expanding and shrinking deformation. An elastic vibration disk in connection with the buzzer disk produces standing waves to transport kinetic energy to the exterior. A driving module symmetric in the vertical or horizontal direction is also formed. This does not only reduce the abrasion among the components, but also provide homogeneous forward and reverse driving forces.
