A first electronic device, electronically coupled to a second device for supplying a charge to the second electronic device, tracks the voltage requirements of the second device and dynamically adjusts its output voltage upwards or downwards to match such requirements. The second electronic device may provide feedback to the first electronic device through a feedback loop. The feedback may include an indication of the voltage requirements and/or instructions for adjusting the voltage output of the first electronic device. The second device may be, for example, a wearable audio device, while the first device is a case for the wearable audio device.

This document describes techniques and devices for detecting twist input with an interactive cord. An interactive cord may be constructed with one or more conductive yarns wrapped around a cable in a first direction (e.g., clockwise), and one or more conductive yarns wrapped around the cable in a second direction that is opposite the first direction (e.g., counter-clockwise). A controller measures one or more capacitance values associated with the conductive yarns. In response to detecting a change in the one or more capacitance values, the controller determines that the change in the capacitance values corresponds to twist input caused by the user twisting the interactive cord. Then, the controller initiates one or more functions based on the twist input, such as by controlling audio to a headset by increasing or decreasing the volume, scrolling through menu items, and so forth.

Detecting twist input with an interactive cord

The technology relates to establishing wireless communication links, or connections, between a first audio accessory device, a second audio accessory device, and a client computing device. After receiving signals from the client computing device to initiate audio output, the first audio accessory device and the second audio accessory device may both perform a series of steps in parallel to establish connections with the client computing device and with each other. The series of steps may include relaying one or more acknowledgement (ACK) signals between the audio accessory devices in order to confirm proper receipt of the signals from the client computing device at both audio accessory devices. Alternatively, the series of steps may include transmitting a jamming signal from one of the audio accessory devices in order to prevent an ACK signal from the other audio accessory device from reaching the client computing device and initiating audio output.

The technology provides for a pair of earbuds. For instance, a first earbud may include a first antenna, and a second earbud may include a second antenna. The pair of earbuds may further include one or more processors configured to receive, from the first antenna, a first signal from a beacon, and receive, from the second antenna, a second signal from the beacon. Based on the first signal and the second signal, the one or more processors may determine at least one signal strength. The one or more processors may determine a position of the user relative to the beacon based on the at least one signal strength.

An antenna is provided for a wearable personal computing device, such as an earbud. The antenna integrates with other components of the wearable device, such as an input control. For example, the antenna may at least partially surround a portion of a touchpad input at a surface of the device that is exposed when the device is worn. In one example, the antenna shares a ground plane with the touchpad. In another example, the antenna includes two nested traces, wherein a first trace is connected to ground and a second trace is connected to an antenna feed.

The case () includes capacitive sensing circuitry () for detecting whether the wireless devices () are positioned inside the case () based on a capacitance of the wireless devices (). Arrangements for bone conduction transducers (BCTs) that couple to wearable devices are described herein. An example BCT couples to a wearable device via a moveable member, and is arranged on the wearable such that the BCT member moves so as to provide an indication as to whether or not the wearable device is being worn.

A sensor cord construction to prevent capacitance variation is described herein. A sensor may be connected to a controller via a cord that includes a first cable and a second cable. The first cable includes first shield wires that are twisted around the first cable in a first direction, and the second cable includes second shield wires that are twisted around the second cable in a second direction that is opposite the first direction. When the cord is twisted, one of the first or second cables may provide a positive capacitance variation, while the other of the first or second cables may provide a negative capacitance variation in an amount that is directly proportional to the positive capacitance variation. Thus, the controller detects a minimum capacitance variation, when the cord is twisted, due to the capacitance variation of the first cable and the second cable canceling each other out.

Example wearable audio devices are disclosed. In one example implementation, a wearable audio device includes a housing defining an interior and an exterior. The exterior can have an ear engaging surface. The wearable audio device can include an audio source located within the interior of the housing. The wearable audio device can include an antenna located within the interior. The antenna can have an arc-shaped conductor with a first end and a second end defining an opening. The antenna can be positioned within the housing of the wearable audio device such that the opening of the antenna is positioned further from an ear relative to a middle portion of the arc-shaped conductor when the wearable audio device is worn in the ear.
