The present invention discloses a fixing structure for a flat display, such as an LCD having a liquid crystal panel, in which a first engaging portion is formed on both side surfaces of the flat display. The fixing structure has two holders and a shielding device. Each of the holders has a first fixing portion corresponding to the first engaging portion, and a second engaging portion. The first fixing portion detachably engages the holder to its corresponding side surface. The shielding device is applied onto the back surface of the liquid crystal panel, and is formed with a second fixing portion corresponding to the second engaging portion. The second fixing portion detachably engages the shielding device to the holders.

Screwless fixing structure for flat display

A height-adjustable apparatus for supporting a flat monitor is disclosed. The height-adjustable apparatus includes a first support unit, an elastic element, and a second support unit. The first support unit has a first engaging device. One end of the elastic element is affixed on the first support unit. The second support unit, which is movably sleeved into the first support unit, has a second engaging device, a first end, and a second end. The first end touches the elastic element, and the second end connects the flat monitor. When the first engaging device and the second engaging device engage with each other, the height-adjustable apparatus has a first length. When the elastic element is extended with an external force, the second support unit slides to a position such that the apparatus has a second length. The first length is longer than the second length.

Height adjustable apparatus for supporting flat monitor

A hinge assembly for pivotably connecting the display portion and the body portion of the portable computer comprises a first fastening portion for attaching to the display portion, a second fastening portion for attaching to the body portion, and a pivot portion for pivotably connecting the first fastening portion with the second fastening portion. The second fastening portion also has a first support arm for horizontally inserting into the insertion hole. The cables, for transmitting signals and power extending from the display portion, are electrically connected through connectors to the cable connection region. The cable connect region is formed on the rear wall or bottom wall of the body portion. The hinge assembly of the invention greatly reduces the extraordinary sound resulting from the rotation of the display portion. Also, some covering components can be eliminated to make the assembly much easier.

Apparatus for supporting a monitor

A rotary encoder able to produce a first output signal and a second output signal. The rotary encoder of this invention includes a rotary wheel supported by a frame. An elastic means disposed on the frame provides elastic force to the inside wall of the rotary wheel. A plate is mounted on and rotates with the rotary wheel, and there are a plurality of apertures arranged at a predetermined pitch circularly around an axis of rotation of the plate. An axial rod extends perpendicularly from the center of the plate. Pressure applied to the rotary wheel causes the elastic means to compress and shifts the axis of the wheel and plate such that axial rod contacts a switch and produces the first output signal. A second output signal is produced by a light transmitter located on one side of the plate and a light receiver located on the other side of the plate, wherein the light transmitter and light receiver are arranged so that light passes through an aperture in the plate and is received by the light receiver when rotation of the plate is such that the aperture and the light transmitter are aligned, and light is blocked by the plate when rotation of the plate is such that an aperture and the light transmitter are not aligned.

Rotary encoder producing two output signals

A monitor base comprising a standing member and a movable member is disclosed. The standing member has a coupling member, while the movable member has an opening through which the coupling member is movably connected to the movable member, and a guard member provided in the opening to prevent the coupling member and the movable member from separating. The movable member is moved relative to the standing member with the coupling member constrained by the opening.

The base support of a display device provided comprises a base plate and a brake device. The base plate has a plurality of cavities with a depth and corresponding retainer plates. Within each cavity a rolling ball with a diameter is received. Each retainer plate is attached to the base plate for retaining the rolling ball within the cavity and has a circular opening smaller than the diameter of the rolling ball. The diameter of the rolling ball is larger than the depth of the cavity such that a small portion of the rolling ball is exposed to the outside of the cavity through the circular opening. The rolling ball comes into a first rolling contact with a table surface. The base plate also has a plurality of slots each receiving a roller. The rollers come into a second rolling contact with the table surface. The base plate also has a plurality of slots each receiving a roller. The rollers come into a second rolling contact with the table surface. The brake device is connected to the base plate and is selectively enabled to prohibit the rolling movement of the base support on the table surface.
