A transflective liquid crystal display and method of fabricating the same. The pixel region of the transflective comprises a thin film transistor, a transmissive electrode, and a reflective electrode, wherein the overlap of the reflective electrode and the transparent electrode composes a reflective region and the non-overlapping region of the reflective electrode and the transparent electrode form a transmissive region, and the transparent electrode and the source and the drain regions of the thin film transistor are formed of the same silicon layer.

Transflective liquid crystal display and method of fabricating the same

A color filter including red, green, and blue resists in three subpixel regions in each pixel region is disclosed. One pixel region includes two kinds of color resists, and the color resist in the reflective region has lower purity than the color resist in the transmissive region. Another pixel region includes only one kind of color resist.

A transflective liquid crystal display has a plurality of pixel electrode layers corresponding to a plurality of color elements. A first pixel electrode layer has a first reflective region and a first transmissive region. A second pixel electrode layer has a second reflective region and a second transmissive region. A third pixel electrode layer has a third reflective region and a third transmissive region. The first reflective region is larger than the second reflective region, and the first reflective region is larger than the third reflective region.

Transflective liquid crystal display

The present invention provides a dual-screen liquid crystal display including three substrates. The first substrate has a first surface and a second surface. The first reflector layer, the first liquid crystal layer, the second substrate and the first polarization film are sequentially disposed on the first surface of the first substrate to form the first reflective LCD. The second reflector layer, the second liquid crystal layer, the third substrate and the second polarization film are sequentially disposed on the second surface of the first substrate to form the second reflective LCD.

Dual-screen liquid crystal display

This invention relates to a transflective LCD device using different common voltages in the transmissive and reflective regions to present the same gray scale performance on the transmissive and reflective regions. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate including a plurality of transmissive regions and a plurality of reflective regions; a transmissive electrode formed on said transmission electrode region; a reflective electrode formed on said reflective regions and connected electrically with said transmissive electrode; a second substrate including a plurality of first common electrodes and a plurality of second common electrodes, wherein said first common electrodes are formed over said transmissive regions, said second common electrodes are formed over said reflective regions, and said first common electrodes are not connected electrically with said second common electrodes; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between said first substrate and said second substrate.

Transflective LCD device

A transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) includes at least a transmission pixel region and at least a reflection pixel region positioned in a pixel region. The transmission region includes at least a transmissive electrode connected to a first switching element. The reflection pixel region includes at least a reflective electrode connected to a second switching element. The transmissive and the reflective electrodes are controlled respectively by independent switching elements.

A dual-display module has a first display, a second display opposing the first display, and a backlight module disposed between the first display and the second display. The backlight module has at least one tunable mirror sheet, whereby one side display can be on a mirror-like state at the same time when the other side display is in an active operation state.

A double-sided LCD panel is comprised of a transflective LCD panel and a light-emitting device. One surface of the transflective panel is used in the transparent mode, and the other surface is used in the reflective mode, achieving the goal of double-sided display. The light-emitting device may function as the front light source of the display surface in the reflective mode and the backlit source of the display surface in the transparent mode. In this manner, one can use a single panel for double screen display. This can simultaneously satisfy the requirements of light-weighted products and lowering the manufacturing cost.

The invention provides a method for fabricating diffusive-type light reflector which is a substrate having a plurality of bumpy elements with reflective curved surfaces. Each of the plurality of bumpy elements has a first surface and a second surface, the first angle (&agr; or &thgr;) between the first surface and the substrate is different from the second angle (&bgr; or &phgr;) between the second surface and the substrate. A slit-width-adjusting mask is proposed for manufacturing the curved reflective elements in one exposing step according to the present invention. The slit-width-adjusting mask includes a plurality of slit areas. The first transparent slit area under defocus exposure has the first exposure p , and the second transparent slit area has the second exposure q . Each transparent slit area has the same area and is of the width p , the first transparent slit area is of the width p , and the second transparent slit area has the width q . The first exposure p is greater than the second exposure q , and (q )/(p )&equals;(q /(p ). The invention can also be used in a diffusive-type light reflector TFT-LCD, as the reflector element between the liquid crystal layer and the active matrix.
