A method of introducing a Downlink Control Information (DCI)-based early paging indication (PEI) for power consumption enhancements in a 5G/NR network is proposed. In particular, a Base Station (BS) can transmit a message including a PEI to a User Equipment (UE) when the UE is under an idle ode. Then, the UE can receive the PEI under the idle mode and determine whether to monitor a Paging Occasion (PO) according to the PEI. In some embodiments, a format of the message including the PEI can include a format of DCI.

Downlink control information-based paging early indicator

Method and UE are provided for scheduling for CCS from SCell to PCell. In particular, a UE can connect to a PCell and a SCell. A CCS is configured between the PCell and the SCell. According to a UE type, the UE can monitor PDCCHs from both the PCell and the SCell in a same slot when the UE is a first type UE, or ignore the PDCCHs from the SCell in the same slot when the UE is a second type UE.

Method and user equipment for cross-carrier scheduling from secondary cell to primary cell

Method and user equipment (UE) are provided for scheduling with multiple cells. In particular, a UE can connect to a plurality of cells in a network. The UE can determine a specific slot for receiving a CSI-RS from a first cell. An index of the specific slot is n+X+L while n is an index of a slot for receiving a DCI from a second cell, X is a slot offset for triggering the CSI-RS and L includes parameters associated with SCSs of the first cell and the second cell. The UE can receive the CSI-RS from the first cell in the specific slot.

Method and user equipment for scheduling with multiple cells

Method and UE are provided for scheduling for scheduling with multiple cells. In particular, a UE can connect to a plurality of cells in a network. The UE can determine a reference slot length according to an SCS of a first cell of the plurality of cells.

A method for expediting Secondary Cell (SCell) or Primary cell of a secondary cell group (PSCell) addition or activation is proposed. A User Equipment (UE) receives a command that indicates adding or activating an SCell or a PSCell, wherein the command comprises information of a temporary Reference Signal (RS). The UE detects the temporary RS according to the information, and uses the temporary RS to add or activate the SCell or the PSCell.

Enhancement to expedite secondary cell (SCell) or primary SCell (PSCell) addition or activation

A method of UE power profile adaptation to traffic and UE power consumption characteristics based on power profile is proposed. In one preferred embodiment, hybrid of bandwidth part (BWP) and power profile is proposed. UE is configured with multiple BWPs and each BWP includes a set of power profiles. Two types of adaptation triggering can be used, a first type of trigger is based on power saving signals sent from the network, and the second type of trigger is based on timers. When the traffic characteristic for UE changes, the network can send a power saving signal to UE to trigger power profile adaptation, e.g., BWP+power profile switching. When traffic has been digested and becomes sporadic, then power profile adaptation can be triggered based on timers, e.g., a timer for BWP adaptation and another timer for power profile adaptation.

Adaptation framework for UE power saving

A method for enhancing Bandwidth Part (BWP) operation towards Secondary Cell (SCell) dormancy indication is proposed. A User Equipment (UE) detects a Downlink Control Information (DCI) format including an SCell dormancy indication that indicates an active BWP change for a serving cell. The UE performs BWP switching for the serving cell in response to the DCI format. The UE stops transmission or reception in the serving cell during a time duration from a slot containing a last symbol of the DCI format, wherein the time duration includes a first period of time of delay for the BWP switching and a second period of time of interruption to other active serving cells.

Enhancement for bandwidth part (BWP) operation towards secondary cell (SCELL) dormancy indication

A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE receives, on a primary cell, an activation command from a base station for activating a secondary cell between the UE and the base station. The UE receives scheduling information of a set of aperiodic TRSs. The UE receives a trigger indicating transmission of the set of aperiodic TRSs. The UE initiates a RF chain of the UE configured for the secondary cell in an interruption period. The UE receives, in response to receiving the trigger and in accordance with the scheduling information, the set of aperiodic TRSs on the secondary cell prior to receiving an initial SSB or an initial periodic TRS after the interruption period. The UE performs time and frequency tracking on the secondary cell based on the set of aperiodic TRSs.

Techniques of reducing SCell activation delay

Aspects of the disclosure provide an electronic device including processing circuitry and a method for radio resource management (RRM) measurements. The processing circuitry determines, based on a signal received in a serving cell for the electronic device, a location and mobility of the electronic device. The electronic device is in one of a first state and a second state for RRM measurements. A normal level of RRM measurements is implemented for one or more neighboring cells when the electronic device is in the first state, and a relaxed level of RRM measurements is implemented for the one or more neighboring cells when the electronic device is in the second state. The processing circuitry determines whether the electronic device is to be switched from the one of the first state and the second state to another of the first state and the second state based on the mobility and the location.

Electronic device and method for radio resource management (RRM) measurement relaxation

Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for transitioning one or a plurality of activated secondary cells (SCells) between a dormancy behavior and an active behavior. For example, the apparatus can include receiving circuitry and processing circuitry. The receiving circuitry can be configured to receive a configuration indicating a number of SCell groups each including at least one of the SCells, and an indication of at least one of the SCell groups to be transitioned between the dormancy behavior and the active behavior. The processing circuitry can be configured to transition the at least one SCell of the at least one SCell group between the dormancy behavior and the active behavior.

Triggering adaptation mechanisms for UE power-saving

Aspects of the disclosure provide an electronic device including processing circuitry and a method for beam management (BM) with power saving. The processing circuitry can receive a reference signal from a network via a serving beam pair used for downlink (DL) transmission between the network and an electronic device. The serving beam pair can include a serving transmission (Tx) beam transmitted from the network and a serving reception (Rx) beam received by the electronic device. The processing circuitry can determine a signal quality of the reference signal. When the signal quality is determined to satisfy a power saving condition, the processing circuitry can reduce beam measurements in the BM for beam pairs including Tx beams transmitted from the network and respective Rx beams received by the electronic device. The beam pairs can include the serving beam pair and one or more candidate beam pairs.

Electronic device and method for beam management with power saving

Aspects of the disclosure further provide various apparatuses and methods for wireless communications. One apparatus includes processing circuitry that can determine a first transmission power for a first uplink transmission associated with the source cell and a second transmission power for a second uplink transmission associated with the target cell. When the first uplink transmission and the second uplink transmission overlap in time domain and a total power of the first transmission power and the second transmission power is above a first threshold, the processing circuitry reduces the first transmission power for the first uplink transmission to a third transmission power so that a total power of the second transmission power and the third transmission power is equal to or less than the first threshold. The processing circuitry performs the first uplink transmission at the third transmission power and the second uplink transmission at the second transmission power.

Uplink power control and time-division multiplexing patterns for dual active protocol stack based handover

Various solutions for power saving for New Radio (NR) carrier aggregation in mobile communications are described. An apparatus receives, from a wireless network, a trigger signal. The apparatus switches between a first bandwidth part (BWP) and a second BWP of at least two BWPs for a secondary cell (SCell) in response to receiving the trigger signal. No physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring is configured for the first BWP while PDCCH monitoring is configured for the second BWP.

Power saving for new radio carrier aggregation

A UE in a wireless network performs RRM measurements according to power saving schemes. The UE receives Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs), which are broadcast periodically from a base station to a cell served by the base station, and receives additional signal blocks transmitted periodically from the base station. The additional signal blocks and the SSBs use different time-and-frequency resources. The UE performs an RRM measurement according to information received within an RRM measurement window including at least one of the additional signal blocks and a corresponding one of the SSBs. Additionally or alternatively, the UE performs RRM measurements on SSBs with a first cycle period equal to a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) cycle period. In response to an indication that a predefined condition for the RRM measurements is satisfied, the UE performs the RRM measurements with a second cycle period which is at least two times of the first cycle period.
