An inline reductant filter assembly includes a filter housing, a filter media, and one or more valves. The filter housing is fluidly coupled to an upstream portion of a reductant line and a downstream portion of the reductant line. The filter media is positioned in the filter housing. The one or more valves are selectively movable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the one or more valves permit fluid to flow along a first fluid flow path from the upstream portion of the reductant line, through the filter media, to the downstream portion of the reductant line. In the second position, the one or more valves prevent fluid from flowing along the first fluid flow path through the filter media.

Inline filter assembly with purge valving

A system may include a NOsensor and a controller. The controller may be configured to interpret a value of a first parameter indicative of an amount of NOmeasured by the NOsensor and interpret a value of a second parameter for a NOvalue from a look-up table. The controller may be further configured to determine a correction factor based on the value of the first parameter and the value of the second parameter and generate a dosing command based, at least in part, on the determined correction factor. In some implementations, the NOvalue from the look-up table may be based on one or more operating conditions of an engine. In some implementations, the controller may be further configured to update a NOvalue of the look-up table based on the determined correction factor.

Reductant dosing correction during no dosing periods

Apparatuses and methods for urea dosing of an exhaust after treatment system are disclosed. Exemplary apparatuses include a chamber configured to receive pressurized gas at a first inlet, receive urea solution at a second inlet and provide a combined flow of pressurized gas and urea to an outlet, flow passage extending from the first inlet to a seating surface, and a valve member configured to move between an open position in which the valve member is spaced apart from the seating surface and a closed position in which the valve member contacts the seating surface. As the valve member moves from the open position to the closed position, the valve member contacts the seating surface at a first location and wipes an area of the seating surface extending from the first location in a direction toward the flow passage.

Urea injection systems valves

Apparatuses and methods for urea dosing of an exhaust after treatment system are disclosed. Exemplary apparatuses include a chamber configured to receive pressurized gas at a first inlet, receive urea solution at a second inlet, and provide a combined flow of pressurized gas and urea to an outlet, a flow passage extending from the first inlet to a seating surface, and a valve member configured to move between an open position in which the valve member is spaced apart from the seating surface and a closed position in which the valve member contacts the seating surface. As the valve member moves from the open position to the closed position the valve member contacts the seating surface at a first location and wipes an area of the seating surface extending from the first location in a direction toward the flow passage.

A system includes an internal combustion engine producing an exhaust gas, an aftertreatment system receiving the exhaust gas, the aftertreatment system including a particulate filter positioned upstream of an SCR catalyst component, and a urea injector operatively coupled to the aftertreatment system at a position upstream of the SCR catalyst component. The system further includes a controller that interprets an exhaust temperature value, an ambient temperature value, and a urea injection amount. The controller determines a urea deposit amount in response to the exhaust temperature value, the ambient temperature value, and the urea injection amount, and initiates a desoot regeneration event in response to the urea deposit amount. The desoot regeneration event includes operating the engine at a urea decomposition exhaust temperature.

A system includes a cylindrical blend chamber having two inlets and one outlet. The outlet is fluidly coupled to a transfer line, and a nozzle is positioned downstream of the transfer line. The nozzle is fluidly coupled to an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine. System, method, and apparatus for delivering highly atomized diesel exhaust fluid to an exhaust aftertreatment system

A method of controlling an internal combustion engine and exhaust system having an SCR, and engine and exhaust system including an SCR, described herein, monitors, in real time, NOx conversion efficiency of an exhaust flow output by the internal combustion engine through the SCR. A determination is made as to whether the monitored NOx conversion efficiency exceeds a predetermined target conversion efficiency, such as a target based on a predetermined allowable amount of NOx emission. While the monitored NOx conversion efficiency exceeds the predetermined amount, the NOx concentration level in the exhaust flow is increased by an amount based on the difference in the monitored conversion efficiency and the predetermined target conversion efficiency. Another method and engine and exhaust system provided herein tracks an amount of ammonia stored on a catalyst of the SCR based on a feed-forward calculation of injected urea based on engine out NOx mass flow and reduction efficiency of the SCR catalyst based on a temperature of the SCR catalyst, and operates the engine and exhaust system in a NOx-rich mode in which an EGR fraction command is adjusted, based on the tracked amount of stored ammonia, to decrease an amount of EGR gas entering an intake of the internal combustion engine and thereby reduce ammonia stored on the SCR catalyst.
