A fluid catalytic cracking unit of the type having a reactor vessel positioned directly over a regenerator vessel. A pair of catalyst wells are mounted on the lower interior portion of the regenerator vessel and are each in communication with an associated conduit. The other end of each conduit is connected to an atomizing lift pot positioned beneath the lowest level of the regenerator vessel. The atomizing lift pot is placed in fluid communication with the reactor vessel via a riser reactor which may be either internal or external to the regenerator vessel. Plug valves or slide valves may be used to control the flow of regenerated catalyst from the regenerator to the lift pot.

Fluid catalytic cracking unit

A mixing chamber for catalyst and oil in a catalytic cracking unit in which atomized oil is introduced preferably axially in a preferably vertically oriented transfer line or riser reactor from an atomization chamber segregated from flow of cracking catalyst. The cracking catalyst flows with a radially inward component to the mouth of the riser from the circumference thereof and mixes with the oil feed.

Catalytic cracking process

A feedstock pipe for a FCC unit is provided with a plurality of turbulence generating members mounted on its interior surface. Each of the turbulence generating members has a pointed tip pointing toward the discharge end of the pipe and a ramp inclined toward the center of the pipe leading to the pointed tip.

Atomizing feed for cracking unit

Flow control in a standpipe is improved by the introduction of aeration gas into the standpipe immediately above and in a direction of a valve forming the bottom of the standpipe.

Reducing the necessary pressure drop through slide valves

A mixing chamber for solids and feed such as in a fluidized catalytic cracking unit in which atomized oil is introduced preferably axially in a preferably vertically oriented transfer line or riser reactor from an atomization chamber segregated from flow of cracking catalyst. The cracking catalyst flows with a radially inward component to the mouth of the riser from the circumference thereof and mixes with the oil feed.
