An oil-based treatment fluid for use in subterranean operations may comprise an invert emulsion including an aqueous internal phase and an oil external phase. The aqueous internal phase is solids free and comprises a two-salt brine and a true crystallization temperature reduction additive. The two-salt brine comprises a bromide and a nitrate, wherein the bromide brine has a density of about 14.2 lbs/gal to about 17 lbs/gal. There are no additional salts in the aqueous internal phase; The bromide brine has a first true crystallization temperature without inclusion of a true crystallization temperature reduction additive and a second true crystallization temperature with a true crystallization temperature reduction additive that is lower than the first true crystallization temperature reduction additive.

High density brine internal phase

Methods including precipitated and mined calcium carbonate lost circulation materials for use in subterranean formation operations. The precipitated calcium carbonate lost circulation materials are formed under a chosen set of precipitation conditions, including in situ in a subterranean formation. The mined calcium carbonate lost circulation materials are obtained in a desired morphological form under naturally occurring mined conditions. The precipitated and mined calcium carbonate lost circulation materials may be needle-shaped aragonite having an aspect ratio of about 1.4 to about 15.

Provided are compositions and methods that use a true crystallization temperature reduction additive in the aqueous internal phase. An example method may comprise providing an oil-based treatment fluid in the form of an invert emulsion comprising an aqueous internal phase and an oil external phase. The aqueous internal phase may include a bromide brine and a true crystallization temperature reduction additive, wherein the bromide brine has a density of about 14.2 lbs/gal or greater. The method may further include placing the oil-based treatment fluid into a wellbore.

Treatment fluids and methods of using a treatment fluid for minimizing fluid loss in a wellbore are disclosed. A method may comprise providing a drill-in fluid. The drill-in fluid may comprise an aqueous liquid, a base oil, a polyol, an emulsifying surfactant, and a solid bridging agent. The method may further comprise circulating the drill-in fluid through a drill-string and past a drill bit. The method may further comprise drilling in a reservoir section of a subterranean formation to extend a wellbore in the reservoir section the drill-in fluid is circulated therein.

Oil-based drill-in fluid with enhanced fluid loss properties

The present disclosure provides methods and systems for treatment fluids including an iodide brine. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an oil-based treatment fluid in the form of an invert emulsion comprising an aqueous internal phase and an oil external phase, wherein the aqueous internal phase comprises an iodide brine is provided. The treatment fluid may be introduced into at least a portion of a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

A method of inhibiting gas hydrate formation in downhole fluids, including providing a downhole fluid and mixing the downhole fluid with an aqueous gas thermodynamic hydrate inhibitor formulation to form a downhole fluid mixture. A concentration of lithium chloride in the downhole fluid mixture is at least about 1 wt % and a density of the downhole fluid mixture is in a range of about 1.08 to 1.3 gm/cmat a downhole temperature of about 50&#xb0; F. or less and a downhole differential pressure of about 500 psi or higher. An aqueous gas thermodynamic hydrate inhibitor formulation and oil and gas well drilling system including such a formulation are also disclosed.

Provided are compositions, methods, and systems that relate to use of crystallization temperature reduction additives in treatment fluids. A treatment fluid for use in subterranean operations, the treatment fluid comprising: a bromide brine having a first true crystallization temperature; a true crystallization temperature reduction additive, the first true crystallization temperature is the true crystallization temperature of the bromide brine without inclusion of the true crystallization temperature reduction additive; the treatment fluid has a second true crystallization temperature that is lower than the first true crystallization temperature. A method for treating a wellbore, wherein the method comprises: disposing a treatment fluid in the wellbore, wherein the treatment fluid comprises: a bromide brine and a first true crystallization temperature; a true crystallization temperature reduction additive, the treatment fluid has a second true crystallization temperature that is lower than the first true crystallization temperature.

Lowering the crystallization temperature of brines

A method including providing a drilling fluid that comprises a base fluid, a weighting agent, and a sag stability enhancer, wherein the sag stability enhancer comprises polyethylene glycol (PEG) having a molecular weight of greater than or equal to about 200 g/mol; and placing the drilling fluid in a subterranean formation via a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation. A method including forming a fluid comprising a base fluid, a weighting agent, and from about 0.5 ppb (1.4 kg/m) to about 30 ppb (85.5 kg/m) of a sag stability enhancer, wherein the sag stability enhancer comprises a glycol; and introducing the fluid into at least a portion of a well. A drilling fluid containing a base fluid, a weighting agent, and a sag stability enhancer comprising polyethylene glycol (PEG) having a molecular weight of greater than or equal to about 200 g/mol.

Additive to enhance sag stability of drilling fluid

Compositions of crosslinked polymers and methods of using such compositions as viscosifiers and fluid-loss control additives in drilling and treatment fluids for subterranean applications are provided. In some embodiments, the methods include: (A) forming a treatment fluid comprising a divalent brine and a crosslinked polymer composition, wherein the crosslinked polymer composition includes: (i) at least one polymer that includes at least a first monomeric unit of one or more N-vinyl lactams; and (ii) a crosslinker selected from the group consisting of: divinyl ether, diallyl ether, vinyl or allyl ethers of polyglycols or polyols, divinylbenzene, 1,3-divinylimidazolidin-2-one, divinyltetrahydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one, dienes, allyl amines, N-vinyl-3(E)-ethylidene pyrrolidone, ethylidene bis(N-vinylpyrrolidone), and any combination of any of the foregoing; and (B) introducing the fluid into a portion of a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.

Crosslinked n-vinylpyrrolidone polymers for use in subterranean formations and wells

A method of removing a soluble metal ion from a contaminated brine fluid comprising: adding lime to the contaminated brine fluid, wherein the lime causes the soluble metal ion to become insoluble in the contaminated brine fluid; and passing the contaminated brine fluid through a filter media, wherein the step of passing is performed after the step of adding, and wherein after the brine fluid is passed through the filter media, a brine fluid having a reduced concentration of the metal ion is produced. Another method of removing a soluble metal ion from a contaminated brine fluid comprises: passing the contaminated brine fluid through a filter media, wherein the filter media comprises the lime.

Systems and methods are disclosed for chemically treating recovered commercial solids to remove contaminants and then recycling the recovered commercial solids by using them in a treatment fluid.

Crosslinked polymers that may be useful, for example, as viscosifiers or fluid-loss control additives for well treatment and servicing fluids are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid comprising a base fluid and a crosslinked polymer composition comprising at least one polymer that comprise at least one N-vinyl lactam monomeric unit, and at least one crosslinker selected from the group consisting of: an acrylamide-based crosslinker, an acrylate-based crosslinker, an ester-based crosslinker, an amide-based crosslinker, any derivative thereof, and any combination thereof; and introducing the treatment fluid into at least a portion of a wellbore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation.
