A fluid ejection system can include a carriage base that includes a first pen slide at a bottom rear of the carriage base, a second pen slide at a front of the carriage base, and a pen guide at a top rear of the carriage base, the pen guide can include a guide portion to engage a substantially vertical portion of a back corner of a pen, a blocker portion to engage a substantially horizontal portion of the top back corner of the pen, and a pen guide corner formed between the guide portion and the blocker portion to hold a top back corner of a pen substantially in place during an angular loading of the pen.

Carriage bases

Examples techniques to restrict unlatching of manifolds of carriage assemblies in printing devices are described. In an example, a carriage assembly of a printing device comprises a carriage structure defining an opening to house a printhead and a manifold coupled to the carriage structure. The manifold covers the printhead in a latched position and allows access to the integrated printhead in an unlatched position. A lock pin is mounted on the carriage structure, the lock pin being slideable to a first position and a second position with respect to the manifold along the carriage structure. In an example, the lock pin restricts unlatching of the manifold with the carriage structure in the second position.

Examples of vacuum operated pumps are described herein. In an example, a vacuum operated pump includes a plurality of fluid ports, such as an inlet port and an outlet port. The vacuum operated pump may also include a communication port and a diaphragm. The communication port may provide for fluid communication among the plurality of fluid ports. The diaphragm may control the plurality of the fluid ports and the communication port. The diaphragm may mate with the communication port in an idle state of the vacuum operated pump to isolate each of the plurality of fluid ports.

Vacuum operated pumps

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure a fluid storage device is described. The device includes a fluid reservoir to store fluid. The fluid reservoir includes a free fluid chamber and an overflow chamber in fluid communication with the free fluid chamber. The reservoir also includes a seal assembly to, when in a first position, seal a refill port of the free fluid chamber and open an air vent of the overflow chamber. When in a second position, the seal assembly opens the refill port and seals the air vent.

A duplex system for an inkjet printer having a printhead for printing a media sheet is disclosed. The duplex system includes a front duplex module and a back duplex module detachably coupled to the front duplex module. The front duplex module includes a first roller assembly for advancing the media sheet to the printhead along a simplex media path and a second roller assembly disposed along the simplex media path for handling the media sheet.

Duplex system for an inkjet printer

An apparatus for adjusting a spacing between a printhead and a print medium in a printer is provided. The printhead is mounted in a carriage which is slidable along a guiding rod. The apparatus includes a first and second assembly for adjusting a position of a first and second portion of the carriage, respectively. The second assembly includes a camshaft attached to and slidable with respect to the carriage, one or more cams attached to the camshaft, and a bushing member. A first surface of the bushing member abuts a predefined profile of the cam, and a second surface of the bushing member abuts the guiding rod. The sliding of the camshaft with respect to the carriage causes a distance between the bushing member and the camshaft to vary according to the predefined profile of the cam. Accordingly, the spacing between the printhead and the print medium is adjusted.

Apparatus for adjusting a spacing between a printhead and a print medium in a printer

A sheet separator includes an advancing roller driven to rotate to move a sheet forwards along a sheet path, and a reversing roller driven to rotate to move a sheet backwards along the path. The reversing roller and advancing roller are mounted adjacently and are relatively movable between a pinched position and a separated position. The reversing roller has a torque limiter for allowing the reversing roller to slip and counter-rotate with the advancing roller when friction applied by the advancing roller on the pinched reversing roller exceeds a preset value. Overriding roller mounted therein allows a sheet to pass over a roller when the rollers are separated and to remain idle when the rollers are pinched.

Sheet separator

A moisture removal mechanism comprises a drying zone through which product to be dried passes. A fluid circulation path is in fluid communication with the drying zone. A forced fluid feed device directs drying fluid to and from the drying zone, the fluid feed device being mounted in the fluid circulation path. A heater is arranged in the fluid circulation path for heating the drying fluid prior to entry of the fluid into the drying zone. A fluid control arrangement is arranged in the fluid circulation path for controlling moisture content of the drying fluid, the fluid control arrangement being responsive to flow of fluid in the fluid circulation path.

Moisture removal mechanism

A mobile, color printer capable of printing on letter-size plain paper and standard-size photo paper has a fold-up paper feeder that acts as a cover during travel. Such also serves as a storage tray for several sheets of paper to allow automatic feeding from a vertical stack. A slotted door hinged to the back of the printer, and under the hinges for the fold-up paper feeder/cover, can be flipped up or down. In the down position, a slot on the right side guides the user to feed in photo paper in the correct location. In the up position, letter-size plain paper has full-width access to the printing mechanism, and a sliding adjustable guide on the left allows letter, A4, and other size papers to be lightly corralled on both sides.

Mobile printer and paper feeder

A printer comprises an inkjet printhead capping assembly that raises up on an elevator to seal the printheads between uses. Such sealing prevents drying of the ink on the printhead nozzles that would otherwise cause clogging and poor operation. The elevator rides up and down on four ramps located at each corner of a cap carriage platform. A rack and pinion gear pushes pins riding on each ramp laterally to translate into the needed up and down elevator motion.

Inkjet capping elevator

The invention relates to a pick arm for picking a media from a media stack. The pick arm includes a first arm section and a second arm section which are pivotally connected together. Each of the first and second arm sections have respective first and second ends. A media roller is attached to the first end of the first arm section and the second end of the second arm section is attached to drive means configured to apply a torque to the pick arm. When the applied torque is insufficient to enable the pick arm to pick up a media and drive it up a separation wall, the media roller is arranged to automatically move from a first position to a second position. The second position being located distal from the first position in a direction away from the separation wall.

Auto compliant pick arm

An inkjet printhead squeegee is split on one side so that its wiping force on a printhead is highest on the front stroke and much lighter on the backstroke when the surface is dry. Alternatively, the split can be arranged so that the front stroke is light enough to leave the printhead wet, and then the backstroke is much firmer to completely squeegee the printhead dry. The result is high pressure strokes on a dry printhead are avoided.

Inkjet printhead squeegee

A wet printed media output system in a printing mechanism including a frame is provided. The system includes an election mechanism mounted to the frame for ejecting a wet printed medium along a media path in an output direction towards an output area and a holding member mounted to the frame adjacent to the ejection mechanism. A portion of the holding member projects out of the media path at an angle to a plane defined by the output direction and a trailing edge of the medium for deviating at least a portion of the printed medium from the output direction. Furthermore, the angle is adjustable in correspondence with a character of the printed medium.

Wet printed media output system

A method for wiping a printhead of an inkjet printing mechanism is provided. During a wiping process, firstly, a first amount of wiping force is exerted on the printhead for wiping the printhead in a first direction. Subsequently, a smaller amount of wiping force is exerted on the printhead for wiping the printhead in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The potential damages on the printhead by a dry wiping can thus be decreased by controlling the wiping force on the printhead.

Wiping mechanism

A kicker in a printing device is mounted adjacent to an entrance of a feed zone where a pick roller is located for picking a top sheet from an input tray in a pick process. A plurality of next-to-top sheets next to the top sheet move out of the input tray and stop approximately at the entrance of the feed zone during the pick process. The kicker includes a relatively rigid base part for kicking a first portion of the next-to-top sheets back to the input tray and a flexible top part attached to the base part for kicking a second portion of the next-to-top sheets back to the input tray.
