According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a method, device and computer program product for information processing are proposed. The method comprises: obtaining identification information of a shard of metadata at a first node of a blockchain-based metadata management system; determining, based on similarities of the identification information of the shard and identification information of candidate nodes of the metadata management system, a second node for positioning the shard from the candidate nodes; and enabling the second node to process the identification information of the shard, to manage storage of the shard in the metadata management system. Therefore, the present solution can improve efficiency, security and robustness of the metadata management system.

Method, device and computer program product for information processing

Embodiments for optimizing data storage instances in a cloud environment in which metadata is stored and accessed separately from content data in multiple different instances of data storage units. A metadata and content data storage instance optimization process determines the status of different instances of virtual storage resources for both metadata and content data. Full instances are powered down when they are not needed, empty instances are deleted, and data of partially full instances is moved to other appropriate instances to create empty instances that can be deleted. The data storage instance optimization process is provided as part of a data protection search process that provides an execution environment and user interface to the optimization process.

Methods and systems for data indexing are disclosed. According to some embodiments, an index is split into a number of slots based on a slot power value. Each of the slots is assigned with a slot number. A first subset of the slots is allocated to a first shard mapped to the index. A second subset of the slots is allocated to a second shard mapped to the index. The first subset and the second subset are respectively allocated to the first shard and the second shard based on a shard-slot mapping.

Scale-out indexing for a distributed search engine

A distributed search framework with virtual indexing is disclosed. According to some embodiments, a virtual index that includes a first physical index is created, where the first physical index includes a first number of shards. A request to index a document is received. In response to the request, whether the first physical index has reached a capacity threshold is determined. In response to determining that the first physical index has reached the capacity threshold, a second physical index is automatically created and added to the virtual index, where the second physical index includes a second number of shards. The document is added into the second physical index.
