A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a spacer disposed there between. The second substrate includes a black matrix pattern, a color filter, a dummy color filter and a common electrode. The black matrix pattern is formed with an opening portion which is filled by the color filter. The dummy color filter is made of same material as the color filter and extends in a vertical direction along which the spacer also extends. The spacer is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate in correspondence with location of the dummy color filter so that the effective spaced apart distance that the spacer provides between the first and second substrates is a function of a thickness of the dummy color filter.

The contact hole partially exposes the color filter near a portion where the drain electrode and the pixel electrode are connected to each other, and the pixel electrode covers the color filter exposed through the contact hole.

Provided is a thin-film transistor (TFT) substrate. The TFT substrate includes: an insulating substrate; a semiconductor pattern which is formed on the insulating substrate, the semiconductor pattern having a top surface and a bottom surface; a source electrode and a drain electrode which are disposed on the top and bottom surfaces of the semiconductor pattern, respectively; a gate electrode which is disposed alongside the semiconductor pattern with a gate insulating film interposed therebetween; a data line which is connected to the source electrode and extends in a first direction; a gate line which is connected to the gate electrode and extends in a second direction; and a pixel electrode which is connected to the drain electrode and is formed in a pixel region.

Vertical channel thin-film transistor and method of manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel with improved display characteristics includes a first display plate and a second display plate which face each other with a liquid crystal layer therebetween, a seal bonding the first display plate to the second display plate to prevent leakage of the liquid crystal layer, and an impurity blocking and liquid crystal flowing structure disposed inside a perimeter of the seal to prevent impurities from flowing from the seal to an active region in the first and second display plates while providing a flow path allowing liquid crystals to flow to the seal.

A display panel and a method of manufacturing the same in which a storage electrode is formed on a first base substrate, and an insulating layer is formed on the first base substrate to cover the storage electrode. The insulating layer is recessed directly above the storage electrode. A pixel electrode faces the storage electrode and is formed on the insulating layer. A protruding portion is formed on a second base substrate facing the first base substrate. The protruding portion protrudes toward a concaved portion of the insulating layer.
