The present application provides a diffractive optical waveguide for optical pupil expansion and a display device. The diffractive optical waveguide for optical pupil expansion comprises a waveguide substrate; a coupling-out grating disposed on or in the waveguide substrate and configured to couple input light out of the waveguide substrate by diffraction, wherein the coupling-out grating comprises a plurality of grating lines with widths; the plurality of grating lines are spaced in a cycle of a first predetermined period along a first direction and are spaced in a cycle of a second predetermined period along a second direction; each of the grating lines comprises a plurality of periodic structures in continuous and connected arrangement. Each of the periodic structures comprises a first edge and a second edge spaced in the first direction. The first predetermined period is defined as the distance between the first edge and the second edge in the first direction. The width of the first edge is equal to that of the second edge. The distance between the center of the first edge and the center of the second edge in the second direction is defined 0.5 times the second predetermined period. At least one of the first side edge and the second side edge of each periodic structure is a non-linear side edge.

Diffractive optical waveguide and display device

The present application provides a diffractive optical waveguide for optical pupil expansion and a display device. The diffractive optical waveguide comprises a waveguide substrate having a coupling-in region and a coupling-out region that includes a first coupling-out region, a second coupling-out region, and a transitional region; a coupling-in grating; and a coupling-out grating. The coupling-out grating comprises first and second coupling-out gratings and a plurality of transitional coupling-out grating. The first and second coupling-out gratings are arranged in a first direction. The transitional region comprises a plurality of sub-regions each correspondingly provided with one of transitional coupling-out gratings. The transitional coupling-out grating has a first, a second, and a third vector direction. The third vector direction is parallel to the vector direction of the first coupling-out grating. The first vector direction forms a first included angle with the third vector direction, and the second vector direction forms a second included angle with the third vector direction. The first included angle corresponding to the one, in two neighboring transitional coupling-out gratings, closer to the second coupling-out grating is greater than the first included angle corresponding to the farther one; and/or, the second included angle corresponding to the one closer to the second coupling-out grating is greater than the second included angle corresponding to the farther one.

A method for designing a phase-typed diffraction suppressing optical device () for a transparent display screen() is disclosed, which comprises: acquiring a light field complex amplitude distribution U(x,y,d)=A(x,y,d)exp(i&#x3c6;(x,y,d)) on a plane with a distance d from the transparent display screen () after a plane wave is transmitted through the screen; and designing the diffraction suppressing optical device (), so that it has a transmittance function t(x,y)=exp(i&#x3c6;(x,y)) and satisfies &#x3c6;(x,y,d)+&#x3c6;(x,y)=C, where C is a constant. A diffraction suppressing optical device () and an under-screen camera apparatus () comprising the same are disclosed. The phase-typed diffraction suppressing optical device () suppresses the diffraction effect in the under-screen camera apparatus () by providing phase modulation, thereby improving the quality of under-screen imaging.
