Aspects of the subject disclosure include, for example, identifying a primary serving cell and a secondary serving cell, wherein the primary serving cell facilitates one of attachment, re-attachment or mobility, or any combination thereof, of a mobile device in association with coordination of a wireless service between the primary serving cell, the secondary serving cell and the mobile device. A latency value associated with a message exchange is determined between the primary and secondary serving cells via a messaging interface, and compared to latency requirements, which correspond to a group of mobile service features. A mobile service feature of the group is associated with the wireless service based on the comparison. The wireless service includes a coordinated exchange of wireless signals between the primary serving cell and the mobile device and between the secondary serving cell and the mobile device based on the mobile service feature. Other embodiments are disclosed.

System and method for dynamic feature selection based on latency discovery

When machine-to-machine (M2M) devices attach to a mobile communication network, the associated communication session can be treated differently than the attachment of other devices. For example, upon determining that a subscriber device that attaches to a communication network is an M2M device and has completed a given network transaction, the M2M device can be immediately detached without waiting on expiration of an inactivity timer. As another example, upon determining that a subscriber device that attaches to a communication network is an M2M device, the M2M device can be excluded from various signaling procedures such as load-balancing procedures.

Example embodiments relate to spectrum resource sharing management. A first mobile network operator (MNO) network device receives a request for network access from a UE operable to communicate with network devices of a first mobile network operator. The first MNO network device determines whether it has enough bandwidth to meet the UE's request, by determining whether a threshold level of utilization of frequencies in a first frequency range allocated to the first MNO network has been met. In response to a determination that the threshold level has been met, the first MNO network device transmits an electronic token to a second MNO network device in a coverage region of the network device, wherein the electronic token is indicative of a request for authorization to use a frequency in a frequency range that is allocated to a second MNO. The second MNO network device can transmit an authorization for the first MNO network device to use the frequency.

Multi-operator spectrum resource sharing management

Load balancing is facilitated utilizing geographical location and mobility speed. An example method includes receiving, by a first cell device including a processor and associated with a first cell, from a device of devices, information indicative of whether the device has detected cell type information from a second cell device associated with a second cell, wherein at least a portion of the second cell is located within a first boundary of the first cell. The method also includes: determining, by the first cell device, a mobility characteristic of the device, wherein the devices comprise respective mobility characteristics; and selecting, by the first cell device, the device of the devices to associate with the second cell based on the mobility characteristic of the device.

Facilitating load balancing in wireless heterogeneous networks

Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for providing network address translation in a software defined networking environment. A control system can detect a request to create a network address translation function. The control system can analyze a recipe to identify a network address translation switch and a network address translation virtual function that are to provide functionality of the network address translation function, trigger instantiation of the network address translation switch via a network control function, and trigger instantiation of the network address translation virtual function via a service control function. The control system can validate the network address translation function and chain the network address translation function to a host. The network address translation function can provide address translation for the host using the network address translation switch.

Providing network address translation in a software defined networking environment

An inter-cell interference coordination procedure in heterogeneous networks (HetNets) is enhanced based on utilization of cell profile data associated with neighbor access points to improve HetNet spectrum efficiency, mobility performance, and/or overall network capacity. In one aspect, a macro access point can receive cell profile data associated with neighbor access points and modify a power level of reduced-power almost blank subframes (ABS) transmitted by the macro access point to manage macro cell capacity. Further, the macro access point can configure the ABS pattern and transmit the ABS pattern to the neighbor access points. Based on the ABS pattern, the neighbor access points can schedule transmissions to user equipment that are located at (or close to) their cell-edge to reduce inter-cell interference.

Enhancement of inter-cell interference coordination with adaptive reduced-power almost blank subframes based on neighbor cell profile data

Management services are provided during local breakout at a femto access point (FAP). In an aspect, the FAP facilitates policy management and employs a policy component to perform an analysis and enforce a set of policies for dynamically selecting an optimal route for traffic received at the FAP based on a decision-making process. Typically, the set of policies can specify different routes based on various factors, such as, but not limited to, type of traffic, current and/or future network resource availability, current time, day and/or date, location of the FAP, location of a UE sending/receiving the traffic, a lowest cost route, and/or route based on cost-benefit, etc. Further, a monitoring component is employed to observe the route employed by that traffic, which can be utilized by various services, such as, billing, Quality of Service, security management, address management, failure management and/or provisioning.

Performing user equipment (UE) assisted indoor small cell location determination is presented herein. A method can include in response to sending, by an access point device, a request directed to a mobile device to obtain mobile device location data representing a user equipment location of the mobile device, receiving, by the access point device, the mobile device location data from the mobile device; and based on the mobile device location data, determining, by the access point device, access point location data representing an access point location of the access point device. In an example, the mobile device location data can include coordinates of the mobile device comprising latitude of the mobile device and longitude of the mobile device, and a time stamp representing a time of generation of the coordinates. In another example, the mobile device location data can include an altitude of the mobile device.

User equipment assisted indoor small cell location determination

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining a first address of user equipment from a mobile communication network connection request and identifying that the user equipment is stationary based on comparing the first address of the user equipment in the connection request to a second address of a stationary subscriber device. A non-tunneling link is initiated between the user equipment and a stationary packet core of the mobile communication network, based on identifying that the user equipment is stationary, and the connection request is converted from a non-access stratum protocol to an authentication protocol responsive to initiating the non-tunneling link. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to service aware carrier aggregation. According to one aspect disclosed herein, an eNodeB ('eNB') can learn, via a primary serving cell ('PSC'), that a user equipment (&#x201c;UE&#x201d;) has a capability to utilize a carrier aggregation feature. The eNB can receive policy information and service information, and can learn, via the PSC, a service requested by the UE. The eNB can determine, based at least in part upon the policy information, the service information, and the service, whether to implement the carrier aggregation feature to provide the service to the UE. When the eNB determines that the carrier aggregation feature is to be implemented, the eNB can inform the UE to reconfigure a radio resource control (&#x201c;RRC&#x201d;) configuration to include the PSC and a secondary serving cell (&#x201c;SSC&#x201d;). The eNB can allocate physical media resources for the service from the PSC and the SSC.
