The method includes acquiring a first time stamp, where the first time stamp is a time at which a user starts climbing; calculating a single-lap climbing altitude of the user according to data of a barometer; acquiring a second time stamp according to a preset single-lap altitude and the single-lap climbing altitude; calculating a climbing time according to the first time stamp and the second time stamp; and calculating a single-lap vertical velocity according to the climbing time and the single-lap altitude.
