An aromatic silicon-containing compound has the formula:Ar&#x2014;[X-L-SiR(OR')]where Ar represents an aromatic group, X represents a divalent or trivalent group; L represents a divalent linking group; R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group; R&#x2032; represents an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; n is an integer of from 0 to 2; and m is an integer of from 1 to 5. The aromatic silicon-containing compound can be used in electrophotographic photoreceptors, particularly in outmost protective layers of such electrophotographic photoreceptors.

Crosslinked siloxane outmost layer having aromatic silicon-containing compounds for photoreceptors

Overcoat layers, which may be useful for reducing torque in electrophotographic photoreceptors, are provided. The overcoat layers include a polymer matrix having a particulate inorganic lubricant and a particulate fluoropolymer uniformly dispersed therein. Also provided are electrophotographic photoreceptors that include a substrate and the overcoat layers, electrophotographic imaging apparatuses that include such photoreceptors, and methods for forming the photoreceptors.

Siloxane-containing materials that have been prepared by a sol-gel method and polymeric binder materials from interpenetrating networks. Silicon-containing layers including such interpenetrating networks are provided. Methods for preparing interpenetrating networks and silicon-containing layers including interpenetrating networks are also provided. In addition, photoreceptors and image-forming apparatus including such silicon-containing layers are provided.

Siloxane-acrylate interpenetrating networks and methods for producing the same

Provided are a silane-phenol compound, a crosslinked siloxane outmost protective layer thereof, and an electrophotographic imaging member such as photoreceptor. The silane-phenol compound comprises (i) a phenol group and (ii) a silane group selected from the group consisting of alkoxysilyl, arylalkoxysilyl, aryloxysilyl, alkylaryloxysilyl, and combination thereof. The crosslinked siloxane outmost protective layer comprises the product of hydrolysis and condensation of a silanized hole transport compound and the silane-phenol compound. The crosslinked protective outmost layer may be used to manufacture an electrophotographic imaging member such as photoreceptor with improved properties such as image quality and cleanability, etc.

Imaging member

A silicone overcoat (SOC) layer having a crosslinked polysiloxane composition comprising a perfluoropolyether segment are disclosed. The polysiloxane composition is the product of the hydrolysis and condensation of a SOC formulation comprising a perfluoropolyether compound, an aromatic silicon-containing compound, and a silicon-containing hole transport compound. An electrophotographic imaging member having such a SOC layer has improved properties.

Imaging members

A photoconductive imaging member containing a photogenerating layer, and a charge transport layer, and wherein the charge transport layer is comprised of an arylamine containing a moiety that minimizes oxidation.

Photoconductive member

Processes for preparing aromatic matrix materials by metal hydrosilylation followed by alcholysis are provided. Silicon-containing layers that contain such aromatic matrix materials are also provided, as well as electrophotographic photoreceptors and electrophotographic imaging apparatuses containing such silicon-containing layers.

A photoconductive member containing, for example, a substrate, a photogenerating layer, a charge transport layer and an overcoat layer wherein the overcoat layer is comprised of a crosslinked siloxane composite containing a caprolactone-siloxane.

Photoconductive members

A process of treating metal oxide nanoparticles that includes mixing metal oxide nanoparticles, a solvent, and a surface treatment agent that is preferably a silane or siloxane is described. The treated metal oxide nanoparticles are rendered hydrophobic by the surface treatment agent being surface attached thereto, and are preferably dispersed in a hydrophobic aromatic polymer binder of a charge transport layer of a photoreceptor, whereby &#x3c0;&#x2014;&#x3c0; interactions can be formed between the organic moieties on the surface of the nanoparticles and the aromatic components of the binder polymer to achieve a stable dispersion of the nanoparticles in the polymer that is substantially free of large sized agglomerations.

An imaging member having a substrate, a charge transport layer having charge transport materials dispersed therein, and an overcoat layer, wherein at least one of the charge transport layer and the overcoat layer comprise nano-size fillers having a particle size of from about 1 to about 250 nanometers.
