A cable connector includes an outer housing, an inner housing including a first housing and a second housing assembled with each other, and a cable assembly retained between the first housing and the second housing. The cable assembly includes a pair of terminals, two wires, and a sleeve. The second housing defines a group of first holding portions for holding the wires. The first housing and the second housing each define a group of second holding portions for commonly holding the sleeve.

A plug connector includes an insulative plug housing with a plurality of plug contacts retained thereto. The plug housing forms a plug mating portion with a mating surface thereon. The plug contacts include front blade contacting sections extending beyond the mating surface and are arranged along the first direction with one another. Viewed along the first direction, the mating surface is curved with a bulged middle section. The receptacle connector includes a receptacle housing with a plurality of receptacle contacts retained thereto. The receptacle housing forms therein a mating cavity in which a receptacle mating portion extends along the mating direction wherein the receptacle mating portion forms a mating face behind which the receptacle contacts are located. During mating, the plug mating portion is snugly received within the mating cavity with the mating surface of the plug connector is spaced from the mating face of the receptacle connector.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first connector and a second connector mateable with each other wherein each of the first connector and the second connector has an insulative housing essentially composed of a bottom wall, a side wall and a pair of end walls wherein all the bottom wall and the side wall are rectangular while the end walls are right triangular. The first connector and he second connector are coupled with each other in a complementary manner with the corresponding hypotenuses of the right triangles confronting each other. A sealing member of a frame structure is located at an interface between the coupled edges of the housings in an oblique manner.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector assembly includes a plug connector and a receptacle connector. A plug connector includes an insulative plug housing and a plurality of blade type male contacts retained in the plug housing. Each of the blade type male contacts includes a contacting section composed of two opposite primary mating planes and two opposite side locking planes. Correspondingly, a receptacle connector includes an insulative receptacle housing and a plurality of clip type female contacts retained in the receptacle housing. Each of the clip type female contacts includes a pair of contacting portions sandwiching the two opposite primary mating planes of the corresponding blade type male contact therebetween in a first horizontal direction. A metallic blade type locking piece retained in the receptacle housing, includes a pair of locking arms sandwiching the two opposite side locking planes therebetween in a second horizontal direction perpendicular to the first horizontal direction.
