A head-mounted display and a method for image processing based on diopter adjustment are provided. The method includes: receiving a command corresponding to a first diopter setting; in response to the command, rendering an image according to a mapping table to generate a rendered image; and displaying the rendered image.

A heads mounted display device is provided. The head-mounted display device includes a display, an optical system, and a processor. The display is configured to display a pre-warp image. The optical system is configured to receive the pre-warp image and output an undistorted image. The processor is configured to perform a tolerance enhancement operation on an original image to generate an enhanced image. Further, the processor is configured to apply a software distortion on the enhanced image to generate the pre-warp image. The software distortion is configured to compensate an optical distortion of the optical system.
