A vehicle cleaning system for cleaning a vehicle including a processor and a memory including computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations include determining that a passenger compartment of the vehicle requires cleaning and identifying a type of cleaning required. The operations also include that at least one of a fragrance system, a dry particulate removal system, and a wet particulate removal system is activated in response to the type of cleaning required.

Interstitially modified compounds of rare earth element-containing, iron-rich compounds may be synthesized with a ThMntetragonal crystal structure such that the compounds have useful permanent magnet properties. It is difficult to consolidate particles of the compounds into a bulk shape without altering the composition and magnetic properties of the metastable material. A combination of thermal analysis and crystal structure analysis of each compound may be used to establish heating and consolidation parameters for sintering of the particles into useful magnet shapes.

According to aspects of the present disclosure, a method includes selecting a faying surface of a first metal substrate, placing a reaction material on the faying surface, and attaching, prior to a second metal substrate being adjacent the first metal substrate, the reaction material to the faying surface via ultrasonic welding. The reaction material is configured to form a metallurgical joint between the faying surface and the second metal substrate adjacent the first metal substrate.

A method of forming a weld interface between a first workpiece and a second workpiece includes arranging a reactive braze material at a first joining surface of the first workpiece. The reactive material is selected to react upon being heated to a temperature below the solidus temperature of the first and second workpieces to form a liquid-containing reaction product. Furthermore, an assembly is prepared of the first workpiece and the second workpiece with the first joining surface of the first workpiece and a second joining surface of the second workpiece separated by the reactive material. The second workpiece is then heated with a first laser beam following a first path and with a second laser beam following a second path.

A method of pre-placing a reaction material onto a surface of a metal workpiece substrate involves the use of oscillating wire arc welding. The method involves depositing and adhering the reaction material from a consumable electrode rod. In doing so, the reaction material can be deposited at any time before the metal workpiece substrate is ready for joining by reaction metallurgical joining, and the size and shape of the reaction material deposit can be more easily controlled.

Based on the vehicle characteristics, a position in a driving order of the first vehicle with respect to the at least one second vehicle is selected and executed. A real-time fuel economy is recorded as the vehicle in the trailing position moves from a maximum following distance to a minimum following distance from the vehicle in the lead position. Based on at least the recorded real-time fuel economy, an optimal inter-vehicle distance between the vehicles in the lead and trailing positions is selected and executed.

Method for optimizing inter-vehicle distance and equitably sharing fuel benefits in a vehicle platoon

New magnetic materials containing cerium, iron, and small additions of a third element are disclosed. These materials comprise compounds Ce(FeM) where x=1-4, having the ThMntetragonal crystal structure (space group I4/mmm, #139). Compounds with M=B, Al, Si, P, S, Sc, Co, Ni, Zn, Ga, Ge, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta, and W are identified theoretically, and one class of compounds based on M=Si has been synthesized. The Si cognates are characterized by large magnetic moments (4&#x3c0;Mgreater than 1.27 Tesla) and high Curie temperatures (264&#x2266;T&#x2266;305&#xb0; C.). The Ce(FeM) compound may contain one or more of Ti, V, Cr, and Mo in combination with an M element. Further enhancement in Tis obtained by nitriding the Ce compounds through heat treatment in Ngas while retaining the ThMntetragonal crystal structure; for example CeFeSiNhas T=426&#xb0; C.
