The disclosure provides a voltage control device for controlling supply voltages of a power amplifier (PA). The voltage control device includes a first processing circuit to provide a first supply voltage to at least one driving stage amplifier of the PA, and a second processing circuit to provide a second supply voltage to an output stage amplifier of the PA. The first supply voltage is generated according to an average-power-tracking (APT) mechanism related to an average power level of a radio frequency (RF) signal transmitted by the PA.

Voltage control device

An envelope tracking system includes an envelope tracking digital baseband (ETDBB) circuit, a digital-to-analog converter circuit, and an envelope tracking supply modulator (ETSM) circuit. The ETDBB circuit performs envelope detection upon a transmit (TX) baseband signal to generate an envelope detection result, and generates a digital envelope input according to the envelope detection result. The digital-to-analog converter circuit converts the digital envelope input into a supply envelope signal. The ETSM circuit generates a modulated supply voltage according to the supply envelope signal, and outputs the modulated supply voltage to a power amplifier. At least one of the ETDBB circuit and the ETSM circuit dynamically adjusts gain compression (GC) of the PA in response to a number of active resource blocks (RBs) in a channel bandwidth.

Envelope tracking system for dynamically adjusting gain compression of power amplifier in response to number of active resource blocks in channel bandwidth, associated envelope tracking method, and associated envelope tracking supply modulator circuit

A linear amplifier of an envelope tracking supply modulator includes a pre-driver stage circuit and an output stage circuit. The pre-driver stage circuit receives an envelope input, and generates a pre-driver output according to the envelope input. The output stage circuit receives the pre-driver output, and generates an amplifier output according to the pre-driver output. The amplifier output is involved in setting a modulated supply voltage of a power amplifier. The output stage circuit has a plurality of amplifiers, including a first amplifier and a second amplifier. When the power amplifier has a first output power level, the first amplifier is involved in setting the amplifier output, and the second amplifier is not involved in setting the amplifier output. When the power amplifier has a second output power level different from the first output power level, the first amplifier and the second amplifier are involved in setting the amplifier output.

Envelope tracking supply modulator using linear amplifier with segmented output stage and associated wireless communication system

A notch circuit and a power amplifier module capable of reducing self-interference in a transceiver are provided. The transceiver includes a transmitter and a receiver, and the transmitter causes self-interference to the receiver. The transmitter includes a power amplifier module and the power amplifier module includes a notch circuit and a power amplifier. The notch circuit includes an inductor and a capacitor. The power amplifier amplifies an input transmission signal to generate an output transmission signal. The inductor receives a supply voltage. An amplitude of the supply voltage varies with the first input transmission signal. The capacitor is electrically connected to the inductor. The first output transmission signal (Tx_out) is attenuated when a modulated frequency of the supply voltage is corresponding to a stopband.

Notch circuit and power amplifier module

A package or a chip including a linear amplifier and a power amplifier is provided, wherein the linear amplifier is configured to receive an envelope tracking signal to generate an amplified envelope tracking signal, the power amplifier is supplied by an envelope tracking supply voltage comprising a DC supply voltage and the amplified envelope tracking signal, and the power amplifier is configured to receive an input signal to generate an output signal.

Envelope tracking supply modulator topology for wipe-bandwidth radio frequency transmitter

An envelope tracking supply modulator includes an amplifier circuit and a zero peaking circuit. The amplifier circuit receives an envelope input, generates a modulated supply voltage according to the envelope input, and provides the modulated supply voltage to a power amplifier. The zero peaking circuit is coupled to the amplifier circuit, and applies zero peaking to the amplifier circuit, where the zero peaking inserts a zero at a frequency.

Envelope tracking supply modulator with zero peaking and associated envelope tracking calibration method and system

A power supply configured to supply a modulated voltage to a power amplifier is shown. The power supply has an alternating current (AC) component generator, a direct current (DC) component generator, and a transition accelerator. The AC component generator generates an AC component of the modulated voltage according to an envelope tracking signal. The DC component generator generates a DC component of the modulated voltage according to the operational voltage range of the power amplifier. The transition accelerator is coupled to an output terminal of the DC component generator to speed up the transition of the modulated voltage.

Power supply with envelope tracking modulation

A linear amplifier is provided to have higher efficiency for an envelope tracking modulator. In one embodiment, a first stage amplifier circuit can be simply operated in a high gain mode or a high bandwidth mode for different applications, without using large chip area. In another embodiment, an output stage has a cascode structure whose dynamic range is controlled according to a voltage level of a supply voltage, to make a core device within the output stage have better protection and suitable dynamic range.

Linear amplifier having higher efficiency for envelope tracking modulator

A circuit module includes a power amplifier, a switch, and a bypass capacitor. The power amplifier has a signal input node coupled to an input signal, a signal output node to generate an output signal, and a power input node coupled to a supply output signal of a supply modulator. The switch is coupled between the power input node of the power amplifier and the bypass capacitor. The bypass capacitor is an equivalently removable bypass capacitor coupled between the switch and a ground level.

Circuit module having dual-mode wideband power amplifier architecture

Provided is a power supply circuit for a wireless mobile device having a plurality of power amplification components. The power supply circuit includes: a first DC-DC converter, for providing at least one constant output voltage (which is provided to the power amplification components) and/or at least one DC intermediate voltage; a second DC-DC converter, for providing a DC component of at least one time-varying output voltage; and at least one linear amplifier. When the at least one linear amplifier receives the at least one DC intermediate voltage from the first DC-DC converter, the at least one linear amplifier provides at least one AC component of the at least one time-varying output voltage. The DC component and the at least one AC component of the at least one time-varying output voltage are combined into the at least one time-varying output voltage and provided to the power amplification components.

An implementation of an operational amplifier circuit includes a first stage amplifier circuit, a second stage amplifier circuit and a first feedforward circuit. The first stage amplifier circuit is coupled to a first input node for receiving a first input signal and amplifying the first input signal to generate a first amplified signal. The second stage amplifier circuit is coupled to the first stage amplifier circuit for receiving the first amplified signal and amplifying the first amplified signal to generate a first output signal at a first output node. The first feedforward circuit is coupled between the first input node and the second stage amplifier circuit for feeding the first input signal forward to the second stage amplifier circuit.

Operational amplifier circuits

A latch circuit includes an input stage, an amplifying stage and a clock gating circuit. The input stage is arranged for receiving at least a clock signal and a data control signal. The amplifying stage is coupled to the input stage and supplied by a supply voltage and a ground voltage, and is arranged for retaining a data value and outputting the data value according to the clock signal and the data control signal. The clock gating circuit is coupled to the amplifying stage, and is arranged for avoiding a short-circuit current between the supply voltage and the ground voltage.

Low-ripple latch circuit for reducing short-circuit current effect

A continuous time delta sigma modulator includes a summing circuit, a loop filter, an extraction circuit, a quantizer and a digital to analog converter. The summing circuit is arranged for subtracting a feedback signal by an input signal to generate a residual signal. The loop filter includes a plurality of amplifying stages connected in series and is arranged to receive the residual signal to generate a filtered residual signal. The extraction circuit is arranged for extracting a current from one of the amplifying stages and forwarding the extracted current to a following one of the amplifying stages. The quantizer is arranged for generating a digital output signal according to the filtered residual signal. The digital to analog converter is arranged for performing a digital to analog converting operation upon a signal derived from the digital output signal to generate the feedback signal to the summing circuit.

Continuous time delta sigma modulator, analog to digital converter and associated compensation method

An amplifier includes a front-end gain stage and an AC-coupled push-pull output stage. The AC-coupled push-pull output stage includes a first transistor, having a source, a drain and a gate, wherein the source of the first transistor is coupled to a first voltage level. The AC-coupled push-pull output stage further includes a second transistor, having a source, a drain and a gate, wherein the source of the second transistor is coupled to a second voltage level, the gate of the second transistor is coupled to the front-end gain stage, and the drain of the second transistor is coupled to the drain of the first transistor to form an output terminal of the amplifier. Further, the AC-coupled push-pull output stage includes an AC-coupled capacitor, which is a passive two terminal electrical component coupled between the front-end gain stage and the gate of the first transistor.

Amplifier, fully-differential amplifier and delta-sigma modulator

A sigma-delta modulator is provided for generating a digital output signal. The sigma-delta modulator is used to generate a digital output signal. The sigma-delta modulator includes a multi-stage loop filter and a quantizer. The multi-stage loop filter receives an analog input signal and generates an integrated output signal according to the analog input signal. The quantizer is coupled to the multi-stage loop filter. The quantizer receives the integrated output signal and quantizes the integrated output signal to generate the digital output signal. Different feed-forward paths of the sigma-delta modulator are available for different frequency bands.
