The invention provides a diffusion plate and a backlight module. The backlight module includes pluralities of light sources, a reflector and a first diffusion plate. The light sources, which are disposed in the reflector, are spatially arranged. The first diffusion plate is disposed on the light sources. There are pluralities of bar-shaped first patterns and second patters, which are arranged in the alternating way, disposed on the emission surface of the first diffusion plate. The contours of first patterns and second patterns are arc shaped. The height of first patterns is H1, and the width is W1. The height of second patterns is H2, and the width is W2. The value of H1/W1 is between 0.4 and 1. The ratio of H2/W2 versus H1/W1 is between 0.6 and 0.9.

Diffusion plate and backlight module

An optical sheet with better brightness-enhancing effectiveness includes a substrate and pluralities of microstructures disposed on the substrate. The microstructures are spaced from one another at a distance d. The cross-section of the microstructure is formed in a triangle which has a base length D. Distance d and base length D satisfy the following equation: 0&#x3c;d/(d+D)&#x2266;0.61.

Light converging optical sheet

A backlight includes a case, pluralities of light sources, pluralities of needles, pluralities of supporting portions, a first optical sheet, a second optical sheet, and pluralities of first microstructures. The light sources are disposed inside the case, the needles are disposed on the bottom surface of the case, and the supporting portions are disposed on the needles. The first optical sheet is supported on the top of the needles. The second optical sheet placed under the first optical sheet has pluralities of holes, and the needles penetrate the holes. The second optical sheet is supported on the supporting portions. The first microstructures are disposed on the first optical sheet or on the second optical sheet to provide a light condensing function.

Backlight module having two optical sheets

A diffusion-plates assembly and a direct-type backlight module assembly are provided. The diffusion-plates assembly includes a first diffusion plate and a second diffusion plate. There are pluralities of first microstructures on the emergent surface of the first diffusion plate, the first microstructures is for condensing light. The thickness of the first diffusion plate is above 0.4 mm, and the transmittance of the first diffusion plate is above 90%. The second diffusion plate is placed over or under the first diffusion plate, The thickness of the second diffusion plate is above 0.4 mm, and the transmittance of the second diffusion plate is 50&#x2dc;90. Said diffusion-plates assembly is used in the direct-type backlight module assembly.
