An apparatus is provided for securing a first chassis within a second chassis in a manner than completes a blind connection and maintains that connection without the use of tools. A cam tooth on an arm rotating with respect to the first chassis engages a striker on the second chassis and, with rotation of the arm toward the first chassis, draws the first chassis into the second. The arm is attached to a handle including a cam hook that rotates to engage a striker of the first chassis. With rotation of the cam hook, the striker draws the handle toward the first chassis, the resulting movement of the arm toward the first chassis causing the arm to rotate and the cam tooth to draw the first chassis into the second.

Ratching latch with quick release mechanism

An automatically-locking latch includes a first slider having a linking pin, a trigger having a tooth, and a second slider having a catch and a first ramp. The trigger is connected to the first slider such that the trigger is biased toward a third direction. The second slider is connected to the bracket and biased in the third direction to a latched position. On insertion of the latch-equipped device into a rack, the second slider rises up and over a catch. On reaching the desired position, the second slider descends to a latched position behind the catch. To release, a user depresses the first slider, causing the linking pin to ride against the first ramp and urge the second slider upward to an unlatched position, at which point the latched device may be removed from the rack.

Low profile, self-locking latch

A position lock is provided for a rack assembly. The position lock includes a cam operable to rotate in a push direction. When the cam is rotated in the push direction, the cam is operable to push against an inner rail of the rack assembly to linearly translate the inner rail along the rack assembly in a frontward direction.

Position lock for rack assembly

A cam latching device is provided for a computing system being installed in a rack. The cam latching device can include a cam and a locking mechanism. The cam includes a handle portion and an engagement portion. The cam includes a locking surface formed thereon. Rotation of the handle portion causes the engagement portion to rotate. The locking mechanism includes a push component and a lock. The push component abuts against a button disposed on a rail of the rack as the computing system translates along a longitudinal axis. When the push component slides against the button, the locking mechanism transitions from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration. In the locked configuration, the lock abuts against the locking surface to prevent the rotation of the cam. In the unlocked configuration, the lock is retracted away from the locking surface so that the cam is rotatable.

Cam latching device

An apparatus is provided for improving the cooling of a heat source. The apparatus includes a deflector mounted in a space between a first heat source and a second heat source. The deflector has a first face at a first angle that is greater than perpendicular from a first plane and a second face at a second angle that is less than perpendicular from a second plane. The apparatus further includes a plurality of vanes that extend from the first face of the deflector and are rotated inwardly with respect to the first face. When the first and second heat sources are immersed in a fluid and oriented with the second heat source above the first heat source, as fluid heated by the first heat source rises, the heated fluid is directed by the deflector away from the second plane and is directed by the plurality of vanes toward a center of the deflector.

Liquid immersion cooling system

A latch assembly provides options for the retention within a rack of a chassis, and the retention within the chassis of a device. With the device in a device slot of the chassis, and the chassis installed in the rack, a first latch in a completely extended position prevents the device from being removed from the slot and prevents a latch tooth from being disengaged from the rack. With the first latch in an intermediate position, the latch tooth may be disengaged from the rack and the chassis removed from the rack, but the device may not be fully removed from the device slot. With the first latch in a retracted position the chassis may be removed from the rack and/or the device may be removed from the device slot.

Chassis interlock latch with auto-lock mechanism

An apparatus is provided for completing a blind mate hydraulic connection. A device is equipped at the rear of the device with a shell holding a manifold connected internally to the device cooling system. Clearances between the shell and manifold allow the manifold to rotate in two axes to adapt to a misalignment between the manifold and a rack cooling system. The device is further provided with a cam-handle attached to the front that provides leverage against the rack for overcoming the connection forces of the blind mate. The manifold and cam-handle combine to facilitate disconnecting the device from the rack cooling system from the front of the rack and servicing the device.

System for blind mate hydraulic connections

A cam system for a liquid cooled computing unit with blind-mate quick disconnects include a cam and a cam guide. The cam guide is operable to engage with the cam. The cam guide includes a bearing guide and a fixed guide. The cam engages first with the bearing guide then engages with the fixed guide to a latched configuration. When the cam engages with the cam guide and transitions to the latched configuration, the cam translates a chassis of the computing unit along a longitudinal axis to blind-mate the quick disconnects.

Cam system for liquid cooled computing system

An elevator provides for sliding and connecting or disconnecting an electronic device from a chassis circuit board and the subsequent removal of the device from a chassis slot. A sliding element between the device and the chassis includes tracks within which travel followers. Motion of the sliding element in a first direction causes the tracks to move with respect to the followers, pulling the device connector away from the mating circuit board connector. In a fully disconnected position, the device may be removed from the slot. Motion of the sliding element in the opposite direction causes the relative motion between the tracks and followers to urge the device connector toward the circuit board connector until, in a fully seated position, the device is connected to the circuit board.

Low profile mechanism enabling front service of electronic chassis components

An apparatus is provided for forcing a service technician to follow a proper servicing sequence that reduces the potential for an electric shock. Embodiments of the latch mechanism maintain a cable connection unless a tray connector is first disconnected. Embodiments enforce the disconnect sequence using a trigger that is actuated by the disconnecting of the tray connector, a latch-lock in the cable connector that is biased to block a cable connector disconnect mechanism, and a mechanical link between the trigger and the latch-lock. The actuation of the trigger is transmitted by the mechanical link to the latch-lock, which moves in response, unlocking the cable connector and allowing it to be disconnected.

Safety latch mechanism enforcing proper disconnect sequence

A manifold system includes a supply manifold and a return manifold. The supply manifold delivers fluid to cold plates to cool processing units of a computing system. The return manifold receives the fluid from the cold plates. The supply manifold has supply fluid ports equidistantly spaced about the side surface of the supply manifold, and the return manifold has return fluid ports equidistantly spaced about the side surface of the return manifold.

Manifold for liquid cooled computing systems

A lock device may include a slider assembly including a first slider, a second slider movably coupled to the first slider, and a base having a planar portion with a top rail and a bottom rail that hold the slider assembly and allows the relative movement of the first slider relative to the second slider along the top and bottom rails in the base. The second slider can move relative to the first slider to different positions including a latch lock position, a latch unlock position, and a latch impending lock position. The lock device may also include a latch assembly attached to a chassis. The latch assembly including a latch element is configured to move to a first, a second, and a third heights from the top rail of the base corresponding to the latch lock position, the latch unlock position, and the latch impending lock position of the slider assembly, respectively.

Front access lock mechanism for server chassis

A device for constraining liquid cooling tubes may include connecting a first tube connector and a second tube connector with a stretchable strip of flexible material. The first tube connector is configured to fluidly seal to a first end of a liquid cooling tube, and the second tube connector is configured to fluidly seal to a second end of the liquid cooling tube. The device may also include connecting the first tube connector to a first manifold and connecting the second tube connector to a second manifold when a computing device in a rack is in operation. The device may also include disconnecting the first tube connector to the first manifold and the second tube connector to the second manifold. The first tube connector and the second tube connector are constrained by the stretchable strip of flexible material when the computing device is moved out of the rack.

Devices and methods for constraining liquid cooling tubes in liquid cooling servers

An apparatus provides a latch with a rotary dial and a leaf spring with teeth that extend from a frame into an engaging position. Inward axial movement of the dial causes the dial to deform the leaf spring and the teeth to extend into the engaging position. In the engaging position, the dial supports the teeth and resists forces that might otherwise cause the teeth to unlatch. In the engaging position, a catch in a track on the dial engages a pin of the frame to maintain the engaging position. From the engaging position, a rotation of the dial unseats the catch and allows the dial to move axially outward and the teeth to recede into the frame.
