An electrified vehicle assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a brace assembly that extends from a passenger side frame rail of a vehicle to a driver side frame rail of the vehicle, and at least one electrified vehicle powertrain module supported by the brace assembly.

This disclosure relates to a motor vehicle, and in particular a vehicle body structure for a motor vehicle, with an extended roof reinforcement structure. An example vehicle includes an A-pillar, a roof side rail, a dash panel, and a reinforcement structure extending at least partially through the roof side rail and the A-pillar to a front end forward of the dash panel.

A structural assembly for use in an electric vehicle having a lower body frame and a battery pack secured within the lower body frame. The structural assembly includes a subframe rear mount, a battery cage longitudinal member, a rocker, a hinge pillar, and a rail torque unit. The battery cage longitudinal member is secured to the subframe rear mount. The rocker extends along and is secured to the battery cage longitudinal member. The hinge pillar includes a lower portion that is secured to the rocker. The rail torque includes an s-brace and an inner rail. The s-brace is secured to the hinge pillar at one end and to the inner rail at another end. The inner rail is secured to the hinge pillar at one end and is configured to extend around a wheel of the electric vehicle and form a portion of a wheel well.

The tailor welded blank is then formed into a bumper beam having a uniform B-shaped cross-sectional configuration from one terminal end to the other. The heavier gage material in the tailor welded blank corresponds to the terminal ends of the bumper beam where the bumper beam is affixed to the lower frame rails of the vehicle chassis thus placing the greater energy absorption qualities for the bumper beam only at the locations in which they are needed without requiring reinforcement inserts.

A bumper beam is formed from a tailor welded blank with thinner gage sheet metal laser welded to thicker gage sheet metal at opposing sides thereof. The tailor welded blank is then formed into a bumper beam having a uniform B-shaped cross-sectional configuration from one terminal end to the other. Each fore-and-aft extending wall of each cell of the B-shaped cross-sectional configuration is formed with first and second hinges at a bend line between substantially horizontal portions of the wall and an intermediate transitional portion such that the horizontal portions are at different vertically spaced positions. Upon receipt of an impact, the first hinges bend into the corresponding cell while the second hinges bend outwardly. The second hinges on the corresponding inner walls of the two cells contacting upon deep collapse to enhance energy absorption.
