A method of detecting downlink interference in a communications system may include selecting a set of user equipment for measuring interference and generating a downlink interference neighbor list for some or all of the user equipment in the set. Empty resource blocks that are common to base stations on each downlink interference neighbor list are identified, and signals that are received by the set of user equipment during the empty resource blocks are analyzed to detect interference. Certain aspects of the method may be practiced before or after an interference detection period. A system for detecting downlink interference is also provided.

A method for handling a jamming signal in a wireless network includes obtaining network measurement data on a wireless network performance, the network measurement data collected by a wireless network element. A first performance information on the wireless network performance is derived based on the network measurement data obtained. The first performance information is examined with respect to a predefined value. An alert is issued to indicate a presence of a potential jamming signal based on a result of the examination of the first performance information.

A first optimum phase adjustment is determined to increase the gain of an intended signal at a mobile device. A second optimum phase adjustment is determined to decrease the gain of interfering signals received at the mobile device. Using a phase adjustment map, a transmission is scheduled at a base station within wireless resources using the first optimum phase adjustment, at the same time an interfering base station is transmitting at the second optimum phase adjustment angle. Thus, signal strength is greatly improved while interference is greatly reduced, improving the efficiency of the wireless system.

Network performance related to the evaluation of an interference reduction scheme may include measuring a signal strength value for a signal sent by at least one base station and received by a plurality of user equipment, calculating first signal strength ratios using the first signal strength value, converting the first signal strength ratio into first user equipment spectral efficiency values for each user equipment of the plurality of user equipment, and comparing the first spectral efficiency value to a second spectral efficiency value to evaluate a data efficiency metric associated with an interference reduction scheme that is running on the base station when the signal strength value is measured.

Method and apparatus for measuring multi-cell data efficiency in link adaptive wireless networks

A system and method are disclosed for coordinating the scheduling of beamformed data to reduce interference in a wireless system. A customer premise equipment (CPE) uses a plurality of bits to quantize the phase angle of the beamformed data received by CPE and reports it to its serving base station. The serving base station selects one of the phase adjustment angles based on the bits received from the CPE in order to schedule the data transmission to the CPE. The phase adjustment angles are in 'n' degree steps.

A networked computing system including multiple network base stations, user equipment, a network resource controller (NRC), and a data communications network facilitating communications amongst all devices of the networked computing system. The NRC determines a current radio channel available capacity based on a user load associated with regional user equipment, and then forecasts a maximum radio channel capacity based on the current radio channel available capacity. The NRC may be a network base station and it may determine a number of additional user equipment it can support as a component of the forecast maximum radio channel capacity. Systems and methods for autonomously determining network capacity and load balancing amongst multiple network cells

A system and method are described for reducing congestion in a wireless network. A wireless base station becomes congested when substantially all of the available base station airlink resources are being used during a period of time. It is useful, however, to distinguish between periods of congestion with few users and periods where a larger number of users are using the base station. When there are few users a congestion situation is not necessarily a problem, while it is more likely that users' quality of experience and quality of service suffers as the number of users increases. This system and method determines when a base station is congested and implements a congestion prime management scenario when the number of active users is above an activity threshold.
