An optical pickup head and an electromagnetic actuating device thereof are provided. The electromagnetic actuating device is used to move an objective lens carrier having an objective lens assembly to form an optical pickup head. The electromagnetic actuating device includes at least a magnet, at least a coil, and at least a yoke. The magnet is spaced apart from the objective lens carrier by a distance, and the coil is disposed at the objective lens carrier, for generating an electromagnetic force to interact with the magnet. The yoke is spaced apart from the objective lens carrier by a distance, in which the yoke has a protruding part that extends towards the objective lens carrier and is used to attract magnetic flux lines produced by the magnet, and thus making the magnetic flux that passes through the coil be distributed evenly.

Optical pickup head and electromagnetic actuating device thereof

An optical actuator is disclosed. The optical actuator includes a seat bearing the optical element, a yoke comprising an end, a suspension system comprising at least one spring sheet connecting the seat and the end, and a driving device moving the seat relative to the yoke. The spring sheet constrains the movement of the seat. The spring sheet includes an inner connecting portion connected to the seat, an outer connecting portion surrounding the inner connecting portion and connected to the end, and a spring structure disposed between the inner and outer connecting portions and connecting the inner and outer connecting portions.

Optical actuator

An objective lens actuator is provided. An objective lens holder is movably located on a ferromagnetic yoke with corresponding to inner yokes thereof to hold an objective lens. Tracking coils and focusing coils are respectively located on different two opposite sides of the lens holder and the latter are surrounded with the inner yokes. A magnetic element set is located on the ferromagnetic yoke corresponding to the coils to generate a magnetic field perpendicular to the optical axis of the lens. A suspension wire set is connected to the lens holder and the coils to hang the lens holder and channel current to the coils. A damper holder is located on a ferromagnetic yoke to allow the wire set to pass through. A printed circuit board is located on the damper holder and coupled with the wire set to provide the current to the coils, to drive the lens holder.

Objective lens actuator

An optical head to access data on an optical recording medium, which has two data storage densities, includes two sets of optical path systems to provide two optical paths that are crossed. Each optical path system includes a laser light generation unit, a light guiding unit, a converging objective lens and a photo detector. The light guiding unit is located on the optical path of the laser light generation unit, to direct the laser light to pass through the converging objective lens and focus on the data side of the optical recording medium to carry optical data signals from the data side. The laser light returns to the light guiding unit and travels along the optical path and is received by the photo detector.

Optical head having dual optical paths

An objective lens actuator which mainly using an objective lens holder with a flat form facilitates manufacture and fabrication. Also the objective lens actuator controls the focusing direction, tracking direction and radial tilt direction of the optical pickup head. And, the objective lens actuator not only controls but also drives the optical pickup head.

A pickup head actuator for carrying a plurality of near-field optical I/O elements, far-field optical I/O elements, or magnetic I/O elements. Besides performing focusing and tracking servo, the attraction due to magnetic inductor and tracking magnet enables a base to float at different heights in its normal state, suitable for different types of I/O elements.

Pickup head actuator

A planar integrated micro-optical pickup head is used to perform reading and writing operations on a high-density disk. The planar integrated micro-optical pickup head includes a set of optical elements that is comprised of a beam splitter, a plurality of 45-degrees-oriented folding mirrors, and two planar collimators. The pickup head further comprises a photo-detector, a laser source for emitting a laser beam of short wavelength, and an objective lens of high value of numerical aperture. The set of optical elements is formed on lower and upper substrates via semiconductor planar fabrication processes, the laser source and the objective lens then are mechanically attached on the lower substrate. The lower and upper substrates are ultimately aligned and attached with each other to achieve the pickup head hence having a reduced size and simply fabricated.

Planar integrated micro-optical pickup head including two planar cylindrical collimators

A wire-suspended objective lens actuator structure and a method of assigning current pathways. The lens holder on the actuator structure has a group of focusing coils, a group of tracking coils and a group of slant adjustment coils. The coils are connected to four conductive wires. A first conductive wire controls the focusing coil and a second conductive wire controls the tracking coil. Similarly, a third conductive wire controls the slant adjustment coil. The ground terminals of all three groups of coils are connected in parallel to a fourth conductive wire. The fourth conductive wire serves as a common ground terminal. The control terminal of each group of coils is connected to a differential voltage-output current amplifier circuit or a differential voltage-output voltage amplifier circuit. Hence, the focusing, the tracking and the slant adjustment coils can be driven by differential voltages.

Wire-suspended objective lens actuator structure and method of assigning current pathways thereto

An opener for opening the shutter door of a disk cartridge. The opener includes an opener beam having a slot section and a pin that passes through the slot section of the opener beam to be fastened onto a base metal plate. Therefore, the opener beam is able to slide with respect to the fixed pin within the opener slot. A first slot is also formed in the base metal plate so that a slider attached to the head section of the opener beam is able to slide freely inside the slot. In addition, the opener has a spring with one end fastened to the base metal plate while the other end is fastened to a spring lock pin of the opener beam. A second slot on the base metal plate permits the spring lock pin to slide inside the slot. In an alternative design, by using pins that fasten onto the base metal plate, there is no need to form first or second slots on the base metal plate.

Disk cartridge shutter door opener

An apparatus for activating a disk clamper by magnetic restoring force is provided for an optical disk drive having a casing and a cartridge for carrying an optical disk along a path in the optical disk drive. A spindle motor is mounted below the casing that is made of material which can be induced by a magnet. A disk clamper includes a magnet mounted therein and has a central axle coaxial with a central axis of the spindle motor. The disk clamper and the spindle motor and respectively located on two sides of the disc when the cartridge is inside the optical disk drive for securely clamping the optical disk together. When the spindle motor moves upwardly, the disk clamper is moved downwardly to clamp the optical disk in the cartridge under action of magnetic force between the spindle motor and the magnet in the disk clamper. When the spindle motor moves downwardly, the disk clamper is moved upwardly under acting of magnetic force between the magnetic casing and the magnet in the disk clamper, thereby not causing an obstacle to inward and outward movements of the cartridge into and out from the optical disk drive.

Apparatus for activating a disk clamper by magnetic restoring force

An apparatus for activating a disk clamper by magnetic restoring force is provided for an optical disk drive having a casing and a cartridge for carrying an optical disk along a path in the optical disk drive. A spindle motor is mounted below the casing that is made of material which can be induced by a magnet. A disk clamper includes a magnet mounted therein and has a central axle coaxial with a central axis of the spindle motor. The disk clamper and the spindle motor are respectively located on two sides of the disc when the cartridge is inside the optical disk drive for securely clamping the optical disk together. When the spindle motor moves upwardly, the disk clamper is moved downwardly to clamp the optical disk in the cartridge under action of magnetic force between the spindle motor and the magnet in the disk clamper. When the spindle motor moves downwardly, the disk clamper is moved upwardly under action of magnetic force between the magnetic casing and the magnet in the disk clamper, thereby preventing an obstacle to inward and outward movements of the cartridge into and out from the optical disk drive.

A disk loader for loading disk into a disk reader having a vertical protection panel and a retractable block structure. The vertical protection panel is used for restricting bare disk so that even if the disk reader is vertically placed, the disk cannot fall out during the disk-loading process. The retractable block structure is used for pushing one side of a disk cartridge so that even if the disk reader is vertically placed, the disk cartridge cannot fall out during the disk-loading process. Therefore, the disk reader can be horizontally placed or vertically placed without affecting the process of loading a bare disk or a disk cartridge into a disk reader. In addition, the disk loader can be designed to use a set of pre-loading arms for restricting a bare disk or disk cartridge, too.
