A server may receive an article that is retrieved from a server; determine whether the article satisfies first criteria based on content of the first article; annotate the article with a first article type when the article satisfies the first criteria; determine whether the article satisfies second criteria based on information associated with the article; annotate the article with a second article type when the article satisfies the second criteria; and store the article in association with a topic and at least one of the first article type or the second article type. The different server may be associated with a news website.

In one aspect, a map is provided for display by one or more computing devices. The map includes a first set of geographic locations. The one or more computing devices receive a zoom request for viewing the map. The one or more computing devices then determine whether a zoom level cutoff has been traversed. If so the one or more computing devices may select a second set of geographic locations, from a hierarchy of geographic locations, to be displayed to the user.

Documents relating to a topic may be presented to users using visually expandable views. In one implementation, a web page may include a number of topics each presented in a visual area that is presented to a user as one of two views, the two views including, for each of the particular topics: a first view in which a link to a document relating to the topic is presented to a user, and a second view, expanded visually relative to the first view, in which links, to a number of different types of documents and associated with a number of different domains, relating to the particular topic, are presented to the user.

Embodiments include a method of generating a three-dimensional (3D) image model using a game-based image acquisition. The method including determining a location of a user device, identifying images to be acquired to generate a 3D model of an area surrounding the location, displaying a virtual gaming view that includes targets corresponding to locations of the images to be acquired, wherein the targets move within the virtual gaming view relative to movement of the user device, and a goal of a game includes moving the user device to align a field of view of a camera of the user device with the targets, in response to determining that the field of view of the camera aligns with a target, acquiring an image depicting an image scene corresponding to the field of view of the camera, and generating a 3D image model of an area surrounding the location using the image.

Systems and methods for generating three-dimensional image models using game-based image acquisition

Methods, systems and computer-readable storage mediums encoded with computer programs executed by one or more processors for providing personalized mapping with photo-tours are disclosed. A mapping system provides a map of a geographic region that includes a plurality of selectable image locations within the region, with standardized images of the respective image location that accord with predefined parameters provided by the mapping system. An image location selection from the map is received and it is determined whether the selected image location is associated with one or more photo-tours of non-standardized images that do not according with the predefined parameters. A selection of a particular one of the photo-tours is received, and the set of non-standardized images corresponding to a selected photo-tour for the image location is provided.

Embodiments of the invention include a system, method and computer-readable medium for viewing images in a three-dimensional environment. A user is identified. A social graph of the identified user and a plurality of other users is accessed. Based on the social graph, a plurality of images associated with one or more of the other users in the social graph are determined. The plurality of images and data are provided to a client device, wherein the data enables the display of the images in the 3D environment, at the client device.

Sharing photo albums in three dimensional environments

Systems, methods, and computer storage mediums are provided for matching multiple photographs together. An example method includes receiving a first collection of photographic images. The photographic images in the first collection are clustered into one or more composite sets of photographic images based on a comparison of the metadata associated with each photographic image in the first collection meeting a predetermined similarity threshold. An image overlap is determined between each photographic image within each of the one or composite sets of photographic images. When the image overlap exceeds a predetermined image overlap threshold, a pair of photographic images are matched, for all of the photographic images within each composite set of photographic images to form one or more composite images.

An embodiment comprises receiving the content from a content source, wherein the content includes a unique content identifier, injecting the content into a content aggregation system, retrieving the unique content identifier from the content, analyzing the content based on the unique content identifier and data in the content aggregation system, and generating a report of the analyzed content.
