A device for removing blanks which have been cut into a sheet of paper or cardboard and are separated from each other by intermediate strips and are surrounded by a crosswise frontal and a crosswise back strip and two lengthwise side strips. The device includes a lower tool having a grid having apertures corresponding to the size and shape of each of the blanks with bars for supporting the intermediate strips, the lengthwise side strips and front and back crosswise strips, and an upper tool having pushing elements of a shape similar to the blank for pushing the blanks through the apertures of the lower tool and also having pressing devices for holding the intermediate and side strips against the respective bars of the lower tool during the step of separating. To prevent the catching of the strips on the lower tool during a subsequent removal of the residual sheet, a portion of the longitudinally extending pressing devices is provided with suction ports to cause a lifting of the portion of the residual sheet as the upper tool is moved upward subsequent to the separation of blanks from the residual sheet and during the step of removing the residual sheet from the device.

Device for separating blanks from a sheet of cut blanks

A device for exchanging cutting tools including a movable carriage having a base arranged beneath a floor of a platform surrounding the cutting section of the platen press with the base having a portion extending through a slot in the platform provided with a supporting axle, a supporting frame made of a basic plate and two vertical standards connected at the upper end to form an isosceles triangle is provided with a sliding bearing that is telescopically received on the supporting axle and the carriage includes an arrangement for shifting the supporting frame vertically relative to the base so as to enable lifting a cutting tool from the support arm of the press. The basic member of the supporting frame has spaces on each side of the frame for supporting two cutting tools so that two new tools can be placed on one side of the frame and two tools to be replaced can be carried on the other side of the frame during exchange of one pair of cutting tools for another.

Method and device for exchanging tools for a press

A tool used for an upper tool blank separating station has a plate provided with numerous apertures and a lower surface provided with one of a two-layer system of fastening with a first of the two layers having a plurality of loops and a second of the two layers having a plurality of catches or hooks for engaging the loops, and an upper surface of each block at least partially covered with the other of the two layers so that when the block is pressed against the lower surface of the plate, it is mounted thereon.

A method of assembling a movable upper tool utilizing hook and loop fastening system. The tool used for an upper tool blank separating station has a plate provided with numerous apertures and a lower surface provided with one of a two-layer system of fastening with a first of the two layers having a plurality of loops and a second of the two layers having a plurality of catches or hooks for engaging the loops, and an upper surface of each block at least partially covered with the other of the two layers so that when the block is pressed against the lower surface of the plate, it is mounted thereon.

Method of assembling a movable upper tool for separating blanks

A universal movable upper tool for a waste-stripping station situated within a machine designed for die-cutting sheet or web-like matter to be converted into packages includes a tool with a rectangular lower plate provided with apertures. Push-rods destined to push waste material through corresponding openings of a perforated upper plate forming a lower tool of the station are fitted against a lower side of the upper plate with the help of quick-fitting means situated on the upper plate's upper surface. Sponge rubber pressers are fitted against a lower side of the upper plate by means of strips affording an easily disengageable mechanical engagement such as hook and loop locking strips (such as VELCRO fasteners) or frictionally engaging locking devices (such as LEGO fasteners).
