The program directs a computer processor to implement a program that selects at least one substitute ingredient for a food recipe based on a plurality of determined criteria. The program receives a food recipe comprising one or more ingredients, instructions, and preparation time. The program determines time constraints of a user. The program identifies one or more Internet of Things (IoT) enabled cooking devices that are available in a kitchen associated with the user to carry out the instructions of the food recipe. The program searches a market database in a market to identify available options for the at least one substitute ingredient found in the market database based on a similarity level of the at least one substitute ingredient compared with at least one ambiguous ingredient in the food recipe, and selects the at least one substitute ingredient according to the plurality of determined criteria.

The context in which a user generates a search query is analyzed to generate an improved search query. Search query context may be determined with reference to a user profile or content collected from Internet of Things (IoT) or non-IoT devices located proximate the user. Content may be collected when the search query is generated or at a time before the search query is generated. Content collected for context analysis includes visual display content (screen capture), audio content, and data content.

Synchronizing collaboration times for members of a team includes extracting emotive content and topical indicia from conversation data generated from multiple electronically captured conversations involving the team members. A model for generating time-based collaboration profiles for each member with respect to a specific topic can be constructed based on the emotive content and topical indicia. A synchronized collaboration time for the members of the team can be determined based on comparisons of each team member's respective collaboration profile.

A region tag of phased input may be assigned to one or more document regions of a collaborative document along with a list of users enabled to input data to the one or more document regions according to the region tag. A computer-implemented method for controlling one or more devices within a network. The method detects that the one or more devices, within the network associated with a user, are in-use. The method further detects that the user is in an inactive state, and obtains a plurality of information associated with a plurality of factors for the detected one or more devices. The method further controls the one or more devices within the network associated with the user based on the detected inactive state of the user and the obtained plurality of information. The method further assigns a score for each of the plurality of factors for the one or more devices, aggregates the assigned scores for each of the plurality of factors for the one or more devices, and deactivates the one or more devices within the network of the user based on the aggregated score exceeding a threshold value.

The program directs a computer processor to implement a method that dynamically operates one or more appliances. The method estimates a time period for a user to arrive at a location, wherein the estimated time period is based on one or more time constraints, and identifies one or more appliances needed based on at least an instruction set. The method further generates and sends one or more operating commands to the identified one or more appliances based on the estimated time period, updates the estimated time period based on a change in the one or more time constraints, and generates and sends one or more updated operating commands to the identified one or more appliances, based on the updated estimated time period. The method may further detect a current location of the user and receive travel data that corresponds to the one or more time constraints.
