An elongate weatherseal is disclosed for installation in a right angled recess in a door frame or the like. The weatherseal comprises, in its manufactured state, a flat, rigid, plastic base member having side edge portions and a central portion. A rigid attachment member depends from one side of the base member. A pair of legs formed from a soft resilient material are secured to the side edge portions of the base member, and extend outwardly toward one-another from the opposite side of the base member. The weatherseal further has a hinge notch on one side of the base member substantially at the junction of the base member and attachment member to facilitate bending the weatherseal 90.degree. during installation thereof into the door recess.

An elongate weatherstrip is described comprising a sealing body of foamed synthetic resin material encased in a very thin, very flexible membrane of substantially 2 mils in thickness or less. The sealing body has elongate sealing and anchoring lobes joined by a narrow rib portion. A flexible elongate anchoring member of uniform cross section of a material less compressible than the synthetic resin material is affixed to the anchoring lobe.

A unitary weatherplug in combination with a moveable panel, such as a door or window, for sealing the space between a sill and the undersurface of a portion of the moveable panel. The weatherplug comprises a unitary body of soft resilient material having a bottom surface affixed to the sill, and an upper curved surface engageable by the undersurface of the moveable panel.

Weatherstripping for a double-hung window includes horizontal and vertical weatherstripping elements arranged so that each horizontal weatherstripping element forms a sliding seal with each vertical weatherstripping element to provide a complete seal in a double-hung window without the need for supplemental crack sealing members.

A sealing element for attachment to a door, window or other structure comprises a resilient foam core enveloped by a wrap-around outer cover having a flexible portion and a relatively rigid portion for attaching the seal to another structure. The cover has opposite edges which are configured to lock together so as to contain the foam core. The seal may be produced by coextruding the portions of the cover, partially shaping the cover, laying in foamable core material, further shaping the cover, locking the edges of the cover together and causing the core material to foam within the interior of the thus-closed cover.

The object of this invention is to provide an improved pile weatherstrip having a loop-shaped barrier film. The weatherstrip, which is used for sealing openings between fixed and movable members, comprises a backing strip to which is secured a barrier film of loop-shaped cross section formed, for example, from a polypropylene material. The loop-shaped film is formed from a web of material folded upon itself with one end portion thereof secured in various ways to the backing strip and an opposite looped portion extending from the strip.

The object of this invention is to provide an improved soft barrier fin weatherstrip 10 and method of manufacturing same. The weatherstrip 10, which is used for sealing openings between fixed and sliding members, comprises a soft barrier fin 16 preferably formed from polypropylene material. The fin 16 is coated or impregnated with paraffin which fills the openings or interstices in the fin. The coated fin 16 has good resistance to air and moisture infiltration. The fin 16 further reduces the noise generated by the weatherstrip 10 sliding on a mating surface, and the break-away force required to reverse the direction of the fin. The paraffin in the fin 16 acts as a lubricant between the weatherstrip 10 and mating surface.

A glazing device is formed of a longitudinal strip engaging and holding the periphery of a glass panel, and the strip is formed of a length of spring material with an extruded elastomeric covering. The spring material is formed of a high-tensile-strength, resilient wire element formed in a transverse pattern of zig-zag loops with longitudinally extending rows of knitted strands linking the loops together. The strip is anchored in place against the glass panel so the spring material extends from the anchorage into a cantilevered portion of the strip to engage the glass panel in a displaced position flexing the spring material to produce a predetermined pressure against the glass.

A corner formation is made in an architectural glazing strip that has an elastomer-encased spring material formed of a resilient wire element in a transverse pattern of zig-zag loops with the strip having an anchorage edge and a glass-engaging edge. The strip is cut inward from the anchorage edge between the pair of wire loops that occur at the corner, and the cut is stopped at the wire extending between the pair of loops. Then the strip is bent 90.degree. at the corner to open a substantially square space between the wire loops. A resilient element is placed in this space and has the transverse cross-sectional shape of the spring material, and an elastomeric material encases the resilient element and is secured to the strip around the corner. The result provides an even and uniform corner having resilient pressure all the way around the corner.
