Modular telecommunications terminal block

A telecommunications terminal block employs a housing having a number of separate dielectrically isolated chambers disposed therein. Service wires to be connected to a splice cable are inserted into a chamber through openings in the housing and into a movable wire carrier member disposed within the chamber. An actuator member drives the carrier member from a first position, at which the wires are inserted, to a second position where the wires engage a contact element which electrically couples them to the splice cable. The carrier member moves within the chamber so as to allow an electrically insulating medium within the chamber to flow around the carrier and maintain a constant volume of the medium within the chamber. Loss of insulating medium is thereby avoided during connection and reconnection of the service wires allowing improved protection from environmental factors such as moisture, chemicals and other contaminants.

Terminal block

A cable enclosure for enclosing electrical cable splices, typically telephone cables. An elongate housing having first and second housing members joined together along one edge for movement between housing open and closed conditions, and an elongate header for attachment to a messenger cable, with the housing members being closable about the header. A suspension system is provided for supporting the housing members from the header when in the open condition providing free access to the cables during the splicing operation. The housing members have replaceable end plates for handling various numbers of cables through each end plate.

Cable enclosure

A switching assembly for selectively connecting telephone cable to a test set or the like. A mounting panel provides connectors for receiving two twenty-five pair telephone cables, and a third connector for receiving another twenty-five pair cable. A set of switches provides for connecting the third connector to either the first or second connector. The switches are mounted in a row on a printed circuit board and are driven by a sliding actuator plate carried between the switches and the mounting panel, with a rotating knob driving the actuator plate to control the switches, and indicating which of the first and second connectors is being connected.

Switching assembly for telephone cables

A cap shoe system for making electrical connections between a plurality of conductors in one cable and a corresponding plurality of conductors in a connector module of a connector which includes an index strip, the connector module, and a cap. The cap has access holes for contact pins carried by the cap shoe which has a slide member that is retractable to provide for entry of the contact pins through the access holes in the cap into electrical contact with the respective conductors in the connector module. The cap shoe body is formed of two molded shell sections with projecting bosses for locating the contact pin housings. The slide member is a unitary molding and carries corresponding adjustable shims and locking clips for engaging the connector module.

Cap shoes for cable connector

A crimp-type cable shield bonding device for electrically interconnecting the shields of two sheathed and shielded cables each having an outer protective sheath and an underlying shield which enclose a bundle of conductors. The bonding device includes two tubular clamps respectively connectible to adjacent ends of the two cables. Each tubular clamp comprises a generally semicylindrical outer portion adapted to fit over the outer protective sheath at one end of one of the cables and a generally V-shaped inner portion within such outer portion, with its apex extending toward the outer portion. The inner portion of each tubular clamp is insertable between the shield and the conductors at the corresponding end of the corresponding cable with its apex extending toward the shield. The inner portion of each tubular clamp has teeth extending toward the outer portion of such tubular clamp and adapted to penetrate the shield of the corresponding cable. An electrically conductive member is connected at its ends to the two tubular clamps to establish the desired electrical interconnection between the two cable shields.

Crimp-type cable shield bonding device

A cap shoe system for making electrical connections between a plurality of conductors in one cable and a corresponding plurality of conductors in a connector module of a connector which includes an index strip, the connector module, and a connector-module cap, and/or for making electrical connections between a plurality of conductors in another cable and a corresponding plurality of conductors in a bridge module forming part of the connector and including a bridge-module cap. The connector-module and bridge-module caps have access holes for connector-module and bridge-module contact pins respectively carried by connector-module and bridge-module cap shoe bodies having connector-module and bridge-module slide members which are retractable to provide for entry of the connector-module and bridge-module contact pins through the access holes in the connector-module and bridge-module caps into electrical contact with the respective conductors in the connector and bridge modules. The index strip also has access holes adapted to receive the connector-module contact pins to make electrical connections with conductors in the index strip.
