A method for localizing ischemia in segments of a heart in a patient under test includes attaching a plurality of electrodes to the patient to form a plurality of leads, capturing electric signals at each of the leads, determining a normalized vector magnitude for each lead as is inherent in a normal heart, calculating an output for each cardiac segment as a percentage of the left ventricle (LV) by adding up the contributions for all of the leads in the direction of each segment at the J point based on the normalized vector magnitudes and a correct calibration factor for conversion to the percent of LV and taking a dot product of each lead vector and each segment vector to identify a normalized response for each lead at each segment center and using the dot products to multiply the ST J-point signal for each lead.

Automatic measurement of ischemic levels in coronary segments to determine artery responsible therefor

A method for locating an ischemic region in the heart of a subject includes establishing three dimensional coordinates axes with respect to the torso of the subject as a reference; establishing as a reference a multi-dimensional representation of the heart defining at least three dimensional coordinate axes of the heart, the multi-dimensional representation defining at least the base of the heart and a middle section of the heart to thereby prescribe a surface of the heart on the reference multi-dimensional representation of the heart; and orienting the three dimensional coordinate axes of the heart from an initial position offset with respect to the three dimensional coordinates with respect to the torso of the subject to an imaginary position wherein at least one axis of the heart is parallel to or coincident with at least one of the three dimensional coordinate axes with respect to the torso of the subject. Corresponding displays are disclosed also.

Location and displaying an ischemic region for ECG diagnostics

A method of determining an ischemic event includes the steps of: monitoring and storing an initial electrocardiogram vector signal (x, y, z) of a known non-ischemic condition over the QRS, ST and T wave intervals; calculating and storing a J-point of the vector signal and a maximum magnitude of a signal level over the T wave interval; monitoring a subsequent electrocardiogram vector signal over the QRS, ST and T wave intervals; measuring and storing the magnitude (Mag.) of the vector difference between a subsequent vector signal and the initial vector signal; measuring and storing the angle (Ang.) difference between a subsequent vector and the initial vector at points; regressing a line from points about 25 milliseconds prior to the J point and about 60 milliseconds after the J-point and determining the slope of the regression line and the deviation of the angle difference of the regression line; regressing a line from points about 100 milliseconds prior to the maximum magnitude of the signal level over the T wave interval and determining the slope of the regressing line and the deviation of the angle difference of the regression line; and comparing the slope and deviation of the lines from the J point and the T wave interval to a set of known values to determine the presence of an ischemic event.

Three dimensional vector cardiograph and method for detecting and monitoring ischemic events

A medical display for analyzing heart signals includes a cardiographic display which displays an electrocardiograph (ECG) heart signal segment of a patient having a magnitude and location in vector format within a single three-dimensional (3D) coordinate system (vectorcardiograph) sampled at incremental time intervals. The display communicates with a central processing unit (CPU) that implements an algorithm to permit a user to selectively and visually display a comparison of the patient ECG with at least one known display in vector format within a single three-dimensional (3D) coordinate system. The display also permits a user to selectively and visually convert and display an ECG heart signal segment into a color-coded projection of a time sequence, A method for analyzing heart signals includes implementing the algorithm to selectively and visually compare the ECG heart signal with at least one known display in vector format selected from the group.

Display for ECG diagnostics

A cardiographic display for displaying an electrocardiograph heart signal in vector format within a single three-dimensional coordinate system sampled at incremental time intervals and combining the above vector display on the same screen with other displays, e.g., a 12-Lead display. Other embodiments of the present invention comprise projecting the results of the heart vectors onto three planes of the coordinate system which represent the frontal, transverse and sagittal planes while simultaneously displaying the three-dimensional vector display. Still other embodiments comprise combining the three-dimensional with various graphs which show the various changes in magnitude and angle between the heart vectors.

Three dimensional vector cardiographic display and method for displaying

A signal of bandwidth F.sub.max is unambiguously transmitted over a datalink having a bandwidth less than F.sub.max by subdividing the signal into a plurality of subspectrums and bandshifting the subspectrums greater than the datalink bandwidth to baseband. Each bandshifted subspectrum is uniquely encoded using a different pilot tone which can be detected by the receiver to decode the receive signal and unambiguously recover the narrowband spectrum components.

A heavy duty punch for piercing armor plate and the like has a shank by which the punch may be held when in use and a piercing end projecting axially from the shank. The piercing end terminates in a sharp-edged tip. The tip is connected to the shank by a reduced-diameter portion defined by a curved sidewall extending axially from the tip toward the shank and a straight-sided sidewall extending axially from the curved sidewall toward the shank. The straight-sided sidewall is spaced from the tip a distance slightly greater than the thickness of the workpiece being punched; the diameter of the straight-sided sidewall is slightly less than the diameter of the tip.
