An electrical apparatus for electrical energy handling includes a housing with at least one insulation space, in which an electrical component is arranged and which contains an insulation medium surrounding the electrical component. The insulation medium includes an organofluorine compound and at least one further gaseous component. The apparatus further includes a gas flow generating device for flowing an initial gas mixture, containing the organofluorine compound and at least one further component of the insulation medium, out of the insulation space through an outlet opening arranged in the housing. A substance recovery device downstream of outlet opening includes a separator for separating the organofluorine compound from the at least one further component of the initial gas mixture, the separator being a liquefaction device for liquefying and/or solidification device for solidifying the organofluorine compound.

A grounding switch is comprised of a structural frame, at least one first contact, at least one second contact, at least one spacer, and a geared drive assembly. The opening and closing of the grounding switch is controlled by the geared drive assembly. The geared drive assembly is operable to rotate the at least one second contact around the axis of a connecting rod to move the at least one second contact into and out of contact with the at least one first contact. The closing of the grounding switch first and second contacts serve to connect a transformer or other electrical device to ground potential.

A distribution transformer having a slot-and-tab core frame assembly. The core frame () encloses a transformer core () having at least one phase and provides compression on the core yokes and end members of the transformer to bind the assembly together. First and second clamps () of the core frame contain receiving slots () for the tabbed (), longitudinal side supports (), creating an interlock when connected. For larger transformers, the tabbed side supports may be alternatively comprised of a subassembly of end plates, cams, and tabbed locking plates, encompassing a sturdy locking mechanism.

A dry-type network transformer has a core and coil windings insulated by a combustion-inhibiting gas. The combustion-inhibiting gas, core and coil windings are disposed within a hermetically-sealed enclosure. The combustion-inhibiting gas is air, an inert gas or a mixture of gases. The dry-type network transformer may be connected to a network protector. The network protector is further connected to a secondary network. The network protector prevents power from flowing from a secondary network to the primary side of the transformer. The dry-type network transformer is installed in a vault that is underground or at ground level. The dry-type network transformer may be suspended near the ceiling of the vault or installed at the base of the vault.

A dry-type transformer includes at least one high-voltage winding and one low-voltage winding. The windings are operatively connected to one another by an electromagnetic field, and each winding is constructed from winding conductors, wherein the high-voltage winding and the low-voltage winding have a defined distance from one another, and spacers are arranged between the windings and maintain the defined distance.

Dry-type transformer

A method of manufacturing a transformer that includes forming a disc-wound coil using a plurality of pre-formed cooling ducts. Each cooling duct may be supported by a support pipe secured between walls of the cooling duct, or by a removable insert. First and second conductor layers are formed, each of which include plurality of disc windings arranged in an axial direction of the disc-wound coil. A spacer layer is formed between the first and second conductor layers to form a plurality of axially-extending passages. The cooling ducts are slid into the axially-extending passages so as to be disposed between the first and second conductor layers.

A distribution transformer adapted for mounting to a utility pole. The distribution transformer includes a plurality of coil assemblies mounted to a ferromagnetic core. Each of the coil assemblies includes a low voltage coil and a high voltage coil. The low voltage coils are connected together and the high voltage coils are connected together. An encasement comprised of an insulating resin encapsulates the core and the coil assemblies. The encasement includes a substantially annular body and a pair of high voltage bushings extending outwardly from the body. Terminals extend from the high voltage bushings and are connected to the high voltage coils.

Membrane roofs are susceptible to damage in high winds. Wind can lift a membrane roof from a building and cause it to tear or become damaged. The present roof vent prevents liftoff and damage by reducing the air pressure under the membrane during high winds. The present roof vent has two opposed convex domes separated by a gap. Wind blowing across the roof flows between the domes where it accelerates and creates a region of low pressure according to the Venturi effect. The lower dome has an opening at the gap so that the low pressure is applied to the space under the membrane roof. Therefore, when wind blows across the roof, the vent draws air from under the membrane and the membrane is pressed against the roof, preventing liftoff.
