An apparatus used to officiate sporting events in which the positioning of the ball on the field by the officials is critical to the play. The apparatus employs a laser beam which is directed by the official parallel to the field of play at a height below the width of the ball. In use, a first official directs the laser beam across the field to a second official who uses the laser beam illumination to properly 'spot' the ball. In the preferred embodiment, the apparatus is mounted onto the shoe of the official; in another, the apparatus is placed on an edge marker.

A digging tooth and holder therefor for use with an excavating machine including trenchers and backhoe buckets. The tooth holder is suitably attached to the excavating machine, and includes a tooth receiving pocket formed therein for removably receiving the shank of a digging tooth in an improved manner therein. The digging tooth shank rearwardly extends from the tooth and is made into a special configuration which enables power applied thereto from the excavating machine to be transferred into the working end of the tooth in a new and unusual manner. The working end of the tooth inculdes an elongated, concave upper surface, a cylindrical lower surface, and a plurality of longitudinal extending reinforcing ribs which are formed on the cylindrical lower surface, all of which cooperate together to impart great strength into the tooth and also enables the tooth to dig in hard formations in an improved manner.

Excavating tooth and holder therefor

A unitary digging tooth is removably mounted to an excavating machine. The tooth has a cutting face formed at a working end which is opposed to a trailing end thereof. An upper end of the tooth is removably attached to the excavating machine. A plurality of discrete teeth are made integral with and extend forward of the cutting edge. The upper marginal end of the tooth is relatively flat, and the lower marginal end of the tooth is a segment of a cone, and therefore curves when viewed in lateral cross-section. The individual teeth are spaced apart, and arranged parallel to one another, and form part of a digging face at the forward end of the tooth. The tooth is oriented in a vertical plane.

Teeth on a tooth

An excavating machine has a plurality of tooth receiving support blocks mounted for movement thereon to enable an excavating operation to be carried out when digging teeth are mounted to the blocks. Each support block has a cylindrical bore for receiving the cylindrical shank of a prior art rotatable type bit. The present improvements provide the combination of said support block with a non-rotatable dirt type excavating tooth. The tooth includes a cylindrical shank at one end thereof made complementary respective to the block bore so that the shank can be telescopingly received in a captured manner within the bore of the support block, thereby mounting the excavating tooth to a block. A stop means is formed on said block for engaging an abutment means of the tooth and prevents axial rotation of the tooth when the shank is received within the bore. The tooth can be removed from the block, axially rotated into one of a plurality of axial positions respective to the block, and mounted within the bore of the support block.

Digging tooth and holder therefor

A combination digging tooth and holder therefor for use on excavating machines. Each holder has provisions by which it can be attached to an endless chain of a trencher or to a bucket lip. The forward part of the holder has an outwardly opening pocket formed therein of a particular configuration which receives part of the digging tooth in close tolerance relationship therewithin such that a forward marginal part of the tooth extends forwardly from the holder for engaging and digging in the earth. Each opposed marginal end of each of the teeth has identical cutting edges formed thereon so that a tooth can be reversed as well as being substituted one for the other. The teeth cooperate with the holder pocket in an unusual manner.

Reversible digging teeth and holder therefor

A combination of digging teeth, mounting shank, and backhoe bucket. The shank of each tooth has a rear part by which it can be permanently affixed to the bucket lip. The forward part of the shank has a pocket formed therewithin of a particular configuration which receives a digging tooth in close tolerance relationship therewithin such that a forward marginal part of the tooth extends forwardly from the bucket lip and engages the earth. Each opposed marginal end of each of the teeth has identical cutting edges formed thereon so that a tooth can be reversed as well as being substituted one for the other. The teeth are easily field dressed so as to restore a sharp cutting edge thereon.

Combination excavating bucket, shank and digging teeth

The system of this disclosure provides apparatus by which fossil fuel is utilized in the generation of power. The generated power is more efficiently utilized by the apparatus. The system includes an internal combustion process which moves a piston. The piston is directly connected to actuate a special hydraulic pump which provides power fluid to an improved hydraulic motor. Each component of the system is specifically designed respective to the other components of the system to complement one another in a manner to effect an increase in efficiency, and therefore the efficiency gained from each component is added to the efficiency gained by the other components, all of which results in an accumulative gain in power from the total system.

System for efficiently converting hydrocarbons into power

A digging tooth is removably received within a tooth receiving holder. The holder is attached to a digging apparatus, such as a trencher machine, for example. The holder includes a socket within which a shank of the tooth is removably received. The socket of the holder is in the form of an outwardly opening, elongated cavity which rearwardly tapers so that the cavity is progressively reduced in size. The tooth shank is rearwardly tapered and made complementary respective to the socket cavity, so that when the shank is telescopingly forced into the cavity, it is wedgedly held in assembled relationship and is easily removed therefrom, and the teeth therefore can subsequently be rapidly and easily replaced.

Digging tooth and holder assembly

An excavating bucket having spaced sides attached to a rear wall and a flat bottom which lies in a curved plane. The sides and rear are joined to the bottom, and the bucket opening has a periphery defined by the upper edge portion of the rear wall, sides, and the forward edge of the bottom. The marginal, forward end of the bottom is in the form of a bucket lip. A plurality of digging teeth are mounted to the forward end of the lip and arranged respective to one another to provide a continuous cutting edge from one to the other side of the bucket. The geometrical configuration of the digging teeth, together with the bucket design and tooth distribution pattern, increases the digging efficiency and provides a smooth excavated surface.

Flat bottom bucket and digging teeth

A digging tooth and bucket combination. The bucket has a V-shaped leading edge. Digging teeth are arranged vertically spaced from one another on the leading edge to cause the bottom of the excavation to be V shaped, with each side of the V being formed by a plurality of ledges. This causes the bottom of the excavation to have a stair-step configuration. Each digging tooth has a cutting edge arranged thereon to cut away material from a vertical side and a bottom of the ledge as the teeth penetrate the formation. The digging teeth are removably mounted to a shank, while the shank is rigidly attached to the V-shaped bucket lip. Forces imposed on the cutting edge of the teeth are transferred into the shank and then into the bucket lip in an improved manner.

Digging tooth apparatus for V bottom bucket

Improvements in digging apparatus, and in particular the lip and teeth of an excavating bucket for a backhoe machine. The bucket has spaced sides attached to a rear wall and a flat bottom which curves towards the rear wall. The sides and rear are joined to the bottom, and the bucket opening has a periphery defined by the upper edge portion of the rear wall, sides, and the forward edge of the teeth. The marginal, forward end of the bottom is in the form of a specially constructed bucket lip. A plurality of digging teeth are mounted individually to shanks formed at the forward end of the lip. The teeth are arranged respective to one another to provide a continuous cutting edge from one to the other side of the bucket, and the teeth are attached to the bucket lip. The geometrical configuration of the digging teeth, the bucket design, and the tooth distribution pattern increases the digging efficiency and provides a smooth excavated surface. The bucket lip transfers digging loads from the teeth into the backhoe dipper stick in an improved manner.

Lip and teeth in combination with a flat bottom bucket

A lift adapter apparatus by which one of a plurality of digging buckets can be attached to one of a plurality of backhoe machines comprising an upper and lower bushing and pin assembly attached to spaced lifting ears located on the bucket. The bushings are attached to the ears and receive the pin therethrough so that the dipper receptacle and the curl cylinder receptacle can be attached in journaled relationship to a medial length of the exposed upper and lower pins. The width of the bushings and the pin diameter can be selected to enable any one bucket to become operatively attached to any compatible size backhoe machine.

Backhoe bucket adapter bushing and pin method and apparatus

A lift adapter apparatus by which one of a plurality of digging buckets can be attached to one of a plurality of backhoe machines comprising an upper and lower bushing and pin assembly attached to spaced lifting ears located on the bucket. The bushings are attached to the ears and receive the pin therethrough so that the dipper receptacle and the curl cylinder receptacle can be attached in journaled relation to a medial length of the exposed upper and lower pins. The width of the bushings and the pin diameter can be selected to enable any one bucket to become operatively attached to any compatible size backhoe machine.

An improved excavating bucket having special excavating teeth thereon for use with a backhoe type digging machine. The teeth are affixed in spaced relation to a leading edge of the bucket, with there being a central and a lowermost tooth; opposed, intermediate digging teeth; and, opposed outermost digging teeth. The intermediate teeth are located rearwardly and below the outermost teeth, and forwardly and above the central tooth. The interior of the bucket is of a special configuration which enhances the dumping of excavated material therefrom.
