A multifunctional box for facilitating the safe transport of the box and a plurality of unused syringes therein. The box further facilitates the safe sequential dispensing of unused syringes from the box, with concurrent facilitation of the safe sequential feeding of used syringes into the box for safe storage therein. The box includes a container having an open top and an exit opening near the bottom sized to permit sequential withdrawal therethrough of either unused syringes and/or packets of syringes. A dividing tray is provided within the container which is used to collect used syringes while simultaneously to provide a blockage between the used syringes and the exit opening. A cover is attached to open top of the container and supports a used syringe feed means which has a first preselected position for receiving a used syringe, which then is moveable to a second preselected position for feeding used syringes into the tray for safe storage.

Container for transportation and dispensing of unused syringes and for storage of used syringes

A safety syringe having a cylindrical hollow barrel member of semi-elastic material has a seal and stop device at the distal open end and a first restraining stop device axially spaced a preselected distance from the distal open end. A cylindrically shaped needle carrier is initially positioned within the barrel member between the stop device, the needle carrier having a centrally located recess device at the proximal end thereof for receiving and holding a male piston extension device. A piston rod having a piston is provided for drawing fluid into the barrel and forcing fluid out of the barrel through a longitudinal bore in the needle carrier and through an elongated hollow needle attached to the needle carrier. The piston has a male extension at the distal end for engagement with the female recess of the needle carrier. The piston coacts with the first restraining stop device so as to stretch the barrel to disengage the stop means from the needle carrier and to permit subsequent longitudinal movement of the assembled and locked piston and needle carrier in the proximal direction relative to the barrel so as to withdraw the hollow needle means totally within the barrel to prevent accidental contact of the needle with an errant body part.

Safety syringe with retractable needle holder

A box for shipping unused syringes after syringe manufacture to the point of syringe usage (whereat all unused syringes are removed from said box), said box then being usable for the safe storage of used syringes. The box has an open-topped container having a bottom and a plurality of sides, a cover for closing off said container during said shipment and being selectably movable with respect to said container so as to permit the bulk removal of all unused syringes, therein, means for reclosing said container including said cover and means locking said cover means to said container. The box also has means for the serial feeding of used syringes into said closed and locked container including used syringe receiving means integral with said box and having a first operative position for receiving a used syringe external of said box and being movable to a second operative position whereat said used syringe is discharged for safe storage thereof into said box following which said syringe receiving means may be returned to said first operating position for the serial receiving of additional used syringes for safe storage thereof in said box, said syringe receiving means being further characterized by including means for preventing used syringes internal of said locked box from being removed from said box via said syringe receiving means.
