A cap assembly comprising a body, a sealing membrane and a retaining ring. An opening is provided through the body and includes a recessed circumferential channel and a membrane engaging flange positioned proximate the recessed circumferential channel. The sealing membrane covers the opening and includes a body engaging flange and a pierceable surface. The retaining ring is positioned with the sealing membrane engagement surface in overlying engagement with the sealing membrane. Extension of the tab into the recessed circumferential channel of the body releasably maintains the overlying engagement and biases the retaining ring against the membrane. The inner wall structure of the retaining ring extends radially inward beyond the membrane engaging flange of the sealing membrane, to, in turn, protect the membrane.

Storage and dispensing system for a flexible bag

A storage and dispensing system for a flexible bag comprising a container assembly and a cover. The container assembly having a container storage and dispensing portion, and a container elevating portion. The upstand portion of the container storage and dispensing portion includes a wall defining a spout retaining portion defining an engaging end that is configured to retain a spout of a bag assembly. The spout retaining portion is spaced apart from the upper edge. A spout guiding portion extends from the upper edge to the spout retaining portion. The cover further includes a locking tab having a spout interfacing edge. Attaching the cover to the container assembly directs the locking tab over at least a portion of the spout guiding portion with the spout interfacing edge structurally configured to interface with a portion of the spout of the bag assembly, to retain the same in an engaging orientation.

Storage and dispensing system for a flexible bag having a flowable material therein

A connector for a self sealing fitment that includes a body, a lower flange, and a locking mechanism. The connector is configured to sealingly engage with a cap coupled to a spout of a flexible bag by sealingly engaging with a sealing membrane of the cap. The locking mechanism facilitates the maintaining of the same in the inserted configuration. A lockout collar is provided to preclude inadvertent and undesirable coupling between a connector and a sealing membrane of a cap.

An opening extends through the body and includes a recessed circumferential channel and a membrane engaging flange. The sealing membrane covers the opening and includes a body engaging flange and a pierceable surface. The sealing membrane is positioned upon the membrane engaging flange so that the body engaging flange and the membrane engaging flange are in overlying engagement. The retaining ring includes a tab, a sealing membrane engagement surface and an inner wall structure. The retaining ring is positioned in overlying engagement with the sealing membrane. Extension of the tab into the recessed circumferential channel releasably maintains said overlying engagement and biases the retaining ring against the membrane. The inner wall structure of the retaining ring extends radially inward beyond the membrane engaging flange.
