An inferior vena cava filter () for use in the inferior vena cava () to capture thrombus () passing through the inferior vena cava () towards the heart and lungs to prevent pulmonary embolism comprises a proximal support hoop (), a distal support hoop () and a plurality of support struts () extending between the proximal support hoop () and the distal support hoop (). The filter () also comprises a plurality of capture arms () which are movable from a capturing configuration to an open configuration. The capture arms () are biased towards the open configuration. A biodegradable suture holds the capture arms () in the capturing configuration.

Vascular filter

A vascular device for use during an interventional procedure, the device having a stent structure having a collapsed configuration, an expanded configuration, a proximal end, and a distal end; and a delivery member for delivering the stent to a treatment site within a vasculature, wherein the proximal end of the stent structure is fixed to the delivery member when the stent structure is in the expanded configuration at the treatment site.

Vascular device for use during an interventional procedure

An embolic protection device has a collapsible filter element () mounted on a carrier such as a guidewire (). The filter element () collapses into the outer end of a catheter () for deployment and retrieval through a vascular system on a patient. The filter element () has a collapsible filter body with a proximal inlet end and a distal outlet end. The proximal inlet end has inlet openings sized to allow blood and embolic material enter the filter body. The outlet end has outlet openings which allow through passage of blood but retain embolic material within the filter body. After use, the catheter () is movable along the guidewire () to engage the proximal end of the filter element and close the inlet openings before sliding over the filter element from the proximal end to the distal end to progressively collapse the filter body on the guidewire () for retrieval. The filter element () may conveniently be mounted on a tubular sleeve () which is slidable and rotatable on the guidewire () between spaced-apart stops () on the guidewire () which allow some manipulation of the guidewire independently of the filter when the filter is in use.
