A self-contained portable medical diagnostic suite includes an enclosure transportable by a plurality of different modes of shipping and transportation. The enclosure has an exterior surface, and an interior area. Access is provided to the interior area of the enclosure via at least one door. At least one medical diagnostic device is supported within the interior area of the enclosure. A modular climate control system for maintaining the climate in the interior area of the enclosure is removably mounted to the exterior surface of the enclosure. The climate control system can be easily removed from the enclosure's exterior and stored in the interior area during shipment. Integral couplings are provided on the exterior of the enclosure for coupling the enclosure to a load handling device or mode of transportation.

Portable medical diagnostic suite

A count mechanism for a dispensing machine which delivers coins in a single file along a track has a star wheel in the path of travel of the coins. The star wheel is indexed one point for each coin which passes it. The star wheel can be locked against rotation by a latch which engages a point on the wheel and which is held disengaged by a first solenoid. A second solenoid assists in disengaging the latch from the star wheel. A spring biased pawl rides the periphery of the star wheel between points to prevent free rotation. The star wheel is provided with spaced reflective areas on its top surface and a pair of spaced optical sensors detect the presence and absence of reflective surfaces as the reflective areas pass beneath the sensors. The optical sensors generate a pair of out-of-phase pulses which are employed to count the coins. A mechanism is also provided to test for dirty conditions of the star wheel or optical sensors.

Count mechanism for coin dispensing machine

There is provided a cradle drive apparatus for releasably engaging and for retrievably positioning a patient cradle in an advanced position on a bridge within the bore of an MR scanner and for returning the patient cradle to a home position on a patient transport table. The apparatus includes a cradle drive dolly disposed on the bridge for longitudinal movement thereon. A clutch disc is mounted on the dolly which also supports a clutch pad and bias means for enabling the clutch pad to frictionally engage the clutch disc. The clutch disc is fixedly secured to a drive sprocket which engages a drive belt. A motor is coupled to the drive belt to bidirectionally drive the cradle drive dolly on the bridge when the clutch pad frictionally engages the clutch disc and when the motor is energized.

Cradle drive and release mechanism for use with a magnetic resonance

A hydraulically operated, mobile patient transport table useful with a magnetic resonance scanner, which includes a magnet for producing a polarizing magnetic field, employs a hydraulic motor disposed at the base of the magnet and a hydraulic pump disposed at the base of the table. The hydraulic motor and pump are operatively coupled to enable transfer of energy from the motor to the pump without use of hydraulic connections therebetween. In the preferred embodiment, the coupling is implemented with a cone-shaped coupling member attached to the output of the motor and a complementarily-shaped coupling member attached to the input shaft of the pump which frictionally engages the cone-shaped member.

A coin loader for coin handling or processing machines includes a caster mounted coin bin which has a vertical run of a flexible conveyor belt operating in one side of the bin. A plurality of spaced flights are attached to the conveyor belt with each flight having a ledge portions with a scalloped edge and projecting outwardly from the belt a distance greater than half the diameter of the largest coin to be handled. A comb forms the bottom of the bin and has surfaces which complement the scalloped edges so that coins cannot slip out the bottom of the bin. Coins are lifted from the bin on the flights to a horizontal run of the conveyor belt which leads to a coin discharge point.

Coin loader

An automatic coin wrapping machine has a coin dispenser which forms coins into a single file and moves them along a track past a counting star wheel to a downwardly curved discharged chute. Coins leaving the discharge chute enter a stacking tube where they are formed into a stack. The bottom of the tube is closed by a movable gate which is vibrated to assist stacking. The formation of a proper stack is sensed by an optical sensor that checks the height of the stack. When a proper stack is formed, the gate is removed and the stack of coins is lowered on a rod to a wrapping section in which three wrapping rollers engage a web of paper and wrap the paper about the stack. Crimping hooks fold over the extending ends of the wrapper and the completed roll is discharged. The width of the track and discharge chute are adjustable for different denominations of coins. One side of the adjustable track and chute is formed on a plate which is pivotally mounted at the rear of the frame of the machine. The other side of the track and chute if formed on a plate which slides over the first plate and moves parallel to it. Adjustment is accomplished relative to a side frame so that the center of the discharge chute is always at the center of the stacking tube. If the stack sensor determines that an improper stack has been formed, the stacking tube is moved laterally and is opened to empty its contents into a reject chute.

Coin wrapping machine

A coin sorter has the capability to sort an additional size of coin by means of an exit chute which extends through a side of a coin hopper. A rotating pickup plate having notches for coins along its periphery rotates in an inclined plane within the hopper. Coins of certain denominations will fall through a coin opening at the apex of the rotating pickup plate and will fall into coin slots of diminishing width provided in a rotating core. The coins are held at a level peculiar to their size and are directed to discharge chutes and collection points for each denomination. Coins of the denomination which is larger than that which can pass through the coin opening are lifted from a notch by a plow positioned in front of the entrance to the exit chute and the coins travel through the chute outwardly of the hopper to a collection point. A switch actuator arm is positioned in the path of travel of the larger size coins prior to their entry into the exit chute. The apparatus may be provided as a kit of parts to convert existing sorters to handle an additional denomination of coin.

Coin sorter with expanded capability

There is disclosed a coin wrapper discharge assembly for use with a coin wrapping apparatus that momentarily stops a coin roll to change its direction, and senses the presence of loose coins. The assembly includes a chute disposed beneath a coin wrapping apparatus that accepts coin rolls falling downwardly after being wrapped. The chute directs a coin roll laterally from its original downward direction into a V-shaped trap. The trap is formed by an inclined floor and a swingable door. A solenoid is provided to hold the door in its normally closed position until actuated by a paper feed mechanism in the coin wrapping apparatus. When actuated, the solenoid releases the door to allow a trapped coin roll to fall onto a conveyor for removal to a packaging point. In addition, the door is electrically insulated from the floor and chute to provide a pair of electrical contacts that are bridged by loose coins to complete an electric circuit that disables the coin wrapping apparatus.

Coin wrapper discharge assembly

There is disclosed a coin wrapping machine in which coins of a particular denomination are fed into a hopper from which they are conveyed to a coin count module. The coin count module ejects the coins one at a time, counting them as they are ejected, until a predetermined quantity has been reached. The ejected coins are directed to a stationary, removable coin tube having a central bore whose diameter is sized for the particular denomination of coins. Paper from a roll is fed to the coin tube to surround the stack of coins formed in the tube and a wrapping roller is brought to bear to wrap the paper about the coin stack. Crimper blades are extended into the coin tube and actuated to crimp the ends of the paper tube formed about the coin stack. The completed coin roll is dropped through an opening in a floor upon which the coin tube is seated, and the discharge of a roll is sensed by a door in a discharge chute. The discharge chute also detects the presence of loose coins indicating an improper roll having been formed. The opening in the floor is normally closed by a coin pad, and a coin stool extends through the pad to support the bottom of the stack for positioning of the stack and to vibrate the stack to assist in settling of the coins. The operation is continuous, and is triggered by the discharge of a roll. The machine is set up for a different denomination of coin by adjusting the coin count module, replacing the coin tube with one sized for the new denomination, and replacing the paper roll with paper sized for the new denomination.

A coin sorter is disclosed in which coins deposited on a horizontal rotating disc are directed in single file to the circumference of the disc where the coins are removed, by denomination, by means of plows which lift one side of the coin so that the coins will fly off the disc. The removed coins enter chutes which lead to collecting stations which may be either a discharge spout or a count module. If the chute for a particular denomination of coins is directed to a discharge spout, a count of the coins is accomplished by use of a light and a photocell positioned on opposite sides of the path of travel of the coins as they leave the sorting disc and before they enter the discharge chute. If the chute for a particular denomination is directed to a count module, the coins are deposited on a rotating horizontal plate which carries the coins to a discharge passage and the coins are counted as they are forced through the discharge passage. The flow of coins from the count module is halted when a preset predetermined count for the particular denomination is reached. Coins are fed to the sorting disc by means of a rotating wheel having spaced circular sector shaped pockets in which coins are manually deposited. The wheel can be rotated, either one pocket at a time or continuously, to have the open pockets moved over an opening in a horizontal plate over which the wheel rotates. Coins in a pocket fall through the opening into an inclined chute which leads to the sorting disc.
