A method of cleaning a wellbore prior to the production of oil or gas is disclosed, wherein the wellbore has been drilled with an invert emulsion drilling mud that forms an invert emulsion filter cake. The method may include the steps of circulating a breaker fluid into the wellbore, where the breaker fluid includes an aqueous fluid, a water soluble polar organic solvent, a hydrolysable ester of a carboxylic acid, and a weighting age, and where the hydrolysable ester is selected so that upon hydrolysis an organic acid is released and the invert emulsion of the filter cake breaks.

Water based completion and displacement fluid and method of use

In a method of gravel packing a wellbore in a subterranean formation, the wellbore having a cased section and an uncased section, the method may include pumping into the wellbore a gravel pack composition having gravel and a carrier fluid, where the carrier fluid includes an oleaginous fluid and an inorganic solid aggregator material.

The method may include circulating a breaker fluid into the wellbore, where the breaker fluid includes a non-oleaginous internal phase and an oleaginous external phase, where the non-oleaginous phase includes a water soluble polar organic solvent, a hydrolysable ester of a carboxylic acid, and a weighting agent, and the oleaginous external phase includes an oleaginous fluid and an emulsifier, and where the hydrolysable ester is selected so that upon hydrolysis an organic acid is released and the invert emulsion of the filter cake breaks.

Invert emulsion based completion and displacement fluid and method of use

Disclosed herein is a method comprising displacing a first oil-based fluid present in an open hole interval of a wellbore with a second fluid; and contacting the second fluid with an acidic indigenous formation fluid to produce a third fluid wherein the second fluid an aqueous fluid dispersed as a discontinuous phase within an oleaginous fluid, and an amine surfactant, wherein the amine surfactant is selected such that contacting the second fluid with indigenous fluid protonates at least a portion of the amine surfactant in the second fluid to produce the third fluid comprising an emulsion comprising the oleaginous fluid reversibly dispersed as a discontinuous phase within the aqueous fluid. A system for treating a subterranean well and a fluid are also disclosed.

Non-aqueous, acid soluble, high-density completion fluids and process

A method of reclaiming a formate brine may include increasing the pH of a spent formate brine fluid comprising water-soluble polymers; treating the fluid with an oxidizing agent; and removing at least a portion of suspended solids from the fluid. Further, a method of reclaiming a formate brine may include lowering the pH of the spent formate brine fluid comprising water-soluble polymers; increasing the pH of the spent formate brine fluid to initiate precipitation of materials solubilized in the fluid; treating the fluid with an oxidizing agent to break down remaining water-soluble polymer; and recovering at least a portion of the formate brine.

Reclamation of formate brines

A packer or annular fluid includes a hydrocarbon fluid; and a gelling agent; wherein the packer fluid is a yield power law fluid. A method for preparing a packer fluid includes preparing a mixture of a hydrocarbon fluid, and a gelling agent; heating the mixture to a selected temperature; and shearing the mixture. A method for emplacing a packer fluid into an annulus includes preparing the packer fluid that includes a hydrocarbon fluid and a gelling agent, wherein the packer fluid is a yield power law fluid; and pumping the packer fluid into the annulus.

Oil-based insulating packer fluid

A method for sealing a subterranean zone is disclosed. The method includes the steps of preparing a wellbore fluid, placing the wellbore fluid into at least a portion of an annular space between the sidewalls of a wellbore and the exterior of a casing string disposed in the wellbore, and allowing the wellbore fluid to solidify therein, wherein the wellbore fluid includes an oleaginous fluid as the continuous phase of the wellbore fluid, a non-oleaginous fluid as the discontinuous phase of the wellbore fluid, and about 5 to about 50 pounds per barrel of a thermally activated hydrocarbon gellant.

In-situ solidification of invert emulsion fluids to form gas tight annular barrier

A process for making a coated substrate that includes treating a proppant with a coating agent, wherein the coating agent comprises at least one of monomeric alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acids, alpha-hydroxycarboxylic acid polymers, and combinations thereof, reacting the treated proppant to form a polymer coated proppant, and recovering the polymer coated proppant is disclosed.
