A telescopic sensor system for an autonomous vehicle enables sensors located on movable telescopic apparatuses to obtain sensor data when an object obstructs an area scanned by fixed sensors. An example method of controlling a movable telescopic apparatus on an autonomous vehicle includes obtaining, from a first sensor located on the autonomous vehicle, a first sensor data of a first area relative to a location of the autonomous vehicle, performing, from the first sensor data, a first determination that a view of the first area is obstructed, causing, in response to the first determination, a second sensor coupled to the movable telescopic apparatus to extend to a pre-determined position, and obtaining, from the second sensor, a second sensor data of a second area relative to the location of the autonomous vehicle, where the second area includes at least some of the first area.

An autonomous vehicle can classify and prioritize agent of interest (AOI) objects located around the autonomous vehicle to manage computational resources. The mobile device can interface directly with an output device using a wired or wireless connection, and can selectively operate as a host or client. The mobile device can selectively couple the stored image to a remote output device via a wireless connection. The mobile device can select the remote output device from a predetermined list of devices, or can be supplied a dynamic list of remote output devices. The dynamic list of output devices can be updated, for example, based on a location of the mobile device.

A dynamically scaled file encoding method and apparatus are disclosed. A file encoding system using JPEG encoding can be configured to produce relatively constant compressed file sizes irrespective of the initial file size and file contents. The system retrieves an initial file or image that is to be compressed and determines a target bit rate corresponding to the compressed file. The target bit rate is used to determine an initial scaling factor. The initial file is encoded using a JPEG encoder having coefficients scaled by the initial scaling factor. The resultant bit rate can be adjusted in a second loop if greater than the desired bit rate. To adjust the bit rate, a recomputed scaling factor is determined from the resultant bit rate. The initial file is then encoded with coefficients scaled by the recomputed scaling factor to achieve a bit rate that is within the target bit rate.

Method and apparatus for prompting a cellular telephone user with instructions

A system and method for preparing and sending e-mail communications using a wireless communications device are disclosed. In one embodiment, input data comprising audio, image, and/or video data is encoded and transmitted to a cellular network. An integrated e-mail processor connected to the cellular network processes the coded data into a composite e-mail message and forwards the message to a server. The server then forwards the composite e-mail message to the indicated recipient(s). In another embodiment, the wireless communications device processes the coded data into a composite e-mail message and forwards it to a server via a cellular network. In either embodiment, the server may be dedicated to the cellular network. The invention thus enables users of handheld wireless communications devices, users of other devices lacking typing keyboards, or users presently unable to use a typing keyboard to prepare and send e-mail messages.

System and method for preparing and sending an electronic mail communication using a wireless communications device

A 'Reply to All' command may be selectively blocked by a sender in an electronic mail system. The 'Reply to All' command may be disabled in response to selection and enablement of a 'Block Reply to All' option when the message is composed by the sender. After the sender transmits the message, the message is displayed in a window on a computer operated by a receiver. If the 'Block Reply to All' option has been enabled, then the 'Reply to All' command is disabled at the computer operated by the receiver. The disabling of the 'Reply to All' command may be visually represented by a change in the display.
