A nail clipping device with scissor-like cutting edges and a positively engaging pin to trim a nail. In one example, a user interacts with the nail clipper to trim a nail by applying pressure to an operating lever element resulting in the movement of the cutting edges sliding against and past each other to trim a nail in a manner similar to using scissors. In this process, the positively engaging pin applies a longitudinal force to an intermediate lever resulting in an upper cutting edge being urged against a lower cutting edge creating a constant contact point between the cutting edges. This results in a clean and easy cut while containing and controlling the trimmed nails.

A showerhead system with a normally open, temperature controlled first water valve coupled between a hot water source supply inlet and a purge outlet. The first water valve is configured to move from its normally open position to a closed position to restrict water passing from the hot water source supply inlet to the purge outlet when the temperature controlled water valve reaches a predetermined temperature. In a first mode, the first water valve purges water from the hot water source supply inlet through the purge outlet until the thermal actuator reaches the predetermined temperature. In a second mode, the first water valve blocks water entering the first water valve from passing through the purge outlet toward the showerhead outlet. In an optional third mode, a normally closed, manual second water valve is open and passes water through the showerhead outlet.

A system for spraying, according to various aspects of the present invention, includes a shuttle and a trigger switch. The shuttle and the trigger switch cooperate with discontinuous mechanical coupling. The trigger switch provides a discontinuity in bias against operation of the trigger switch by the user. Consequently, the user experiences tactile feedback before spray is released. Prior to tactile feedback, the system establishes a communication link. When spray is released, the system transmits a notice via the communication link. Such a system when equipped with pepper spray aerosol is advantageous for self-defense.

A system for spraying, according to various aspects of the present invention, includes a power switch, an arm switch, a trigger switch, and a communication switch. The system establishes a communication link in response to power being applied through the power switch. Before operation of the arm switch, the system establishes a communication link. After operation of the arm switch, the trigger switch activates release of spray. In further response to the trigger switch, the system transmits a notice via the communication link. Such a system when equipped with pepper spray aerosol is advantageous for self-defense.

A keyed power source connector and keyed device connector that are backwards compatible, ensuring that the power rated device connectors can only mate with power source connectors power rated at or above the device connector power rating. One connector is formed as a plug, and the other connector is formed as a socket. The connectors have are shaped having a profile that is a function of the respective connector power rating. A keyed portion of the power source connector plug will physically interfere with and not be receivable within a device connector socket when the device connector power rating exceeds the power source connector power rating. This connector system ensures target portable electronic devices coupled to the device connector can not draw power exceeding the rating of the power source connector.

A notebook computer protection device forming a protective sleeve adapted to securely receive a notebook computer. The protection device is formed of a semi-rigid translucent material having a plurality of access openings permitting both a physical and visual inspection of the notebook computer lateral portions when secured therewithin.
