An apparatus and method for assessing adhesion of labels applied to a bottle. A label adhered to the outer surface of the bottle is split vertically to form a leading end and trailing end of the label. The bottle may be secured to a support structure and the trailing end of the bottle may be secured to a weighted structure. The bottle is suspended in a heated chamber via the support structure until the adhesive fails, causing the weighted clamp to fall within the chamber. An elapsed time to failure is determined for the bottle and compared to a benchmark time and/or metric as an indicator of how the adhesive is likely to perform during shipping and/or storing the bottle.

There are various ways to latch a closure onto a container. It has been found that for blowmolded containers that the support flange for the bottle preform can later be used as a part of the latch mechanism to secure a closure onto the container. Preforms have a support flange by which the preform is handled prior to being placed into the mold and in the mold. Prior to being placed in the mold, the preform is heated to about 85&deg; C. to about 200&deg; C. During this time and in the mold, it will be supported by the support flange. This support flange is used after the container is blown and filled as one part of the latching mechanism of the closure. The closure will have a portion that is an interference fit with the support flange of the bottle to thereby secure the closure to the bottle.

There is described a shipper/display carton that has high structural integrity as a shipper carton, is easy opening, and is functional as a display carton. The carton comprises a front panel with a weakened area near a bottom edge, two side panels, each having a weakened area extending substantially diagonally across the sidewall, and a weakened area across a top edge of the rear wall. Additionally, there can be a further weakened region where the rear panel weakened area intersects the weakened areas of the side panels. There is a grip aperture in the rear wall. Due to the placement and structure of the weakened areas, the carton with these weakened areas is sufficiently strong to function as a shipper carton.

An improved means for modifying the spray characteristics of a liquid to be sprayed from a container, such as a manually pumpable container or a pressurized container such as an aerosol container which comprises a first fitment element which includes a first fluid flow modifying element mountable substantially perpendicular to the flow path of the liquid to be sprayed which comprises a plurality of spaced apart beams having intermediate transverse passages therebetween, and, a second fitment element which includes a second fluid flow modifying element rotatably mounted on the first fluid flow modifying element and perpendicular to the flow path of the liquid to be sprayed where the second fluid flow modifying element comprises a plurality of spaced apart beams having intermediate transverse passages therebetween, where the second fitment element may be variably rotatably oriented with respect to the first fitment element. Rotation of the second fluid flow modifying element with respect to the first fluid flow modifying element allows for the adjustment and variation in the foaming of the liquid being delivered. The improved means are particularly useful in conjunction with devices for dispensing liquid compositions i.e., hard surface cleaning compositions, disinfectant compositions, and the like.
